Heart of Stone

Hi everyone,

It's Monday again and that means a new challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show! This week's challenge is to create "a project with heart". You don't have to create something with a heart on it, you can take it figuratively. Put your creative cap on and join in! And before I start sharing my project I would like to tell you that we have Jim, the amazing Gentleman Crafter as a guest designer this week! He'll share a tutorial on Wednesday on the Simon Says Stamp and Show blog, so be sure to check back then!

Alright back to business, I chose to take this week's challenge literal and use a heart shape. This heart shaped stone coaster is just perfect for this challenge!

Recently I made an album of Maastricht and that inspired me to use the same style for my mixed media canvas.

First I whitewashed the stone coaster with watered gesso. Next, I gave the canvas a nice coat of gesso. Since I'm maybe the most impatient, I dried the canvas with the heat tool. To create the background I used paint in combination with stamps and stencils.

It was quite a challenge to glue down the stone coaster. Finally I managed it with some Tacky Glue. I love that glue!

To join in all you need to do is make a project that fits this weeks challenge and you can be the winner of the $50 gift voucher that our amazing sponsor Simon Says Stamp offers. This prize will go to a random entry. So go over to the Stamp and Show Challenge blog, let the DT members inspire you and join in the fun!

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Hugs,
Sandra
