Favorite Technique Christmas card

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about your "Favorite Technique.

As it’s the first Monday of the month we are showcasing a brand/company. This week we are all using some fabulous products from PaperArtsy. You don’t have to use them to join in with the challenge but if you have them we would love to see them used.

One of my favorite techniques is to apply color to a coated surface (like gesso, or paste) with Infusions (or other pigment powder). Especially if the surface has a little bit of a texture, it gives a very cool effect. I started by applying Collage Paper with Soft Matte Gel. And some Christmas washi tapes. I used Distress Crackle Paste on the edges of the card.

After the Crackle Paste was dry, I slowly started to build up color with different Infusions. First with In The Navy, and later with Sleight Blue and Green Man. Since I'm working on a coated surface, it does not soak into the paper and the walnut stains tend to turn the color brown. That is something to take into account when using this technique.

Alcohol Ink Happy card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Focus on Alcohol Inks".

Although I do have quite a few Alchohol Inks, I rarely use them because I find them difficult to use, even after watching the Tim Holtz demos. This is also my second attempt, since the first one failed... Of course... I started on Yupo with alcohol, then I added Alcohol Inks Sephia, Aquamarine, Pool and Mineral. I don't like the thick dark edges that pool around the alcohol inks, the thinner ones where you can still see the color of the ink I really do like. But I struggle to get those. In the end I have almost no edges at all, almost everything is blended really softly together.

With Alcohol Lift Ink I did some more stamping in the background. In the past I had some problems with this technique, but it is getting better now that I know that I have to wait a little bit after I stamp before dabbing the alcohol ink off with a tissue.
Distress Crayons work very nice on Yupo, they blend beautifully. I gave the gears a metallic shimmer with Metallique waxes, White Gold, Bronze Age and Firebird. I noticed that the waxes also work very nicely on Yupo, so applied some wax in several places to add some shimmer.
