Paper Artsy The Great Outdoors art journal spread with video tutorial

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "The Great Outdoors". We are also showcasing Paper Arsty products. We would love the see them used in your project if you have them.

It has been ages ago that I've used my art journal. But this theme was perfect to make a new one, because my old one was full. First of all, I made a bit of texture with Texture Paste and Tile stencil. Then I used 4 different colors of Opal Magic paint: Green-Gold, Rose-Gold, Violet-Gold and Blue-Gold. When everything was dry I added some extra texture with cardstock that I've die cutted with one of the Polka Dots Borders.
 

Then I added more color with Paper Artsy Infusions: The Sage, Slime, Sunset Beach, Blackcurrant and A Bit Jaded in combination with Mod Podge that I've mixed with water.
The effect of spraying the infusions with water is magical. I have used a lot of infusions. And had to dab it up a little bit here and there.

Number 70 card with video tutorial

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "We've got your number".



This card I've made for my mother's 70th birthday. I started to build up a background with Cracked Pistachio, Broken China and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide. What a cool effect these Oxides give. I always have to hold myself in because you can make as many layers as you like. I haven't count the layers, but I'm thinking about 7 or maybe 8...

 

I've added some depth and interest with different Distress Oxide inks and number stamps. Oxides work better for stamping ink then Distress Ink. And what the best part is that you can stamp light colors on dark backgrounds.

 

As a little girl I picked wildflowers for my mother's birthday. So I used these Wildflowers (thanks Marzena!) and colored with Metallique Waxes Rose Gold, Old Silver and Bronze Age. On an even surface, it's very easy to apply an even layer so it appears that the paper original has that color. Often the waxes are used for highlights, so I'm pleased that I can use it for coloring even surfaces as well.

Splash card with video tutorial

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Splash".



I've made a lot splashes for this card, in the sense of lots of water and creating splashes with Infusions. First I created bubbles with the Bubble stencil and Texture Paste. Then I applied Opal Magic Green Gold paint with the Silicone Brush. This makes the surface resistant. This enabled me to make many extra splashes.
 

With the Blending tool I applied Black Soot Distress Paint through the stencil. Then I doodled with White Gelly Roll pen to pull the dandelions more into the foreground. With Black Soot Distress Crayon I gave them some dimension.

Hip Hop Mother's Day card with video tutorial

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Hip Hop". Like in the music or in rabbits for Easter!



The inspiration for my card comes from the hip hop artist 2pac with the song Dear Mama. That's why I've made a Mother's Day card, and used a few stamps from the new Simon Says Stamp Mother, Fathers and florals release.
I started  on Distress Heavystock and  used Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade and Amber Fossilized Distress Oxide ink for my background. That heavystock is truly amazing and  itcan withstand a lot of water which is a great property when working with Distress Oxide.

 

With Walnut Distress Oxide I've stamped the  Flower Medallion Background stamp. This Oxide ink works so much better with stamping than Distress Ink. With a water brush I've oxidized some a part of the stamp. In the video you can see how quickly it happens while drying. With the White Gelly Roll pen I've added some white accents.

SSS Mothers Flowers and Fathers release card

Hi everyone,

Simon Says Stamp has a new release that has come out today which is called Mothers Flowers and Fathers. Click here for the full release.

I started with Green-Gold Opal Magic paint and when that was dry I stamped the new Simon Says Stamp Star Flower Background stamp with VersaMark and heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder.

 

Then I applied Slime and Green Man Infusions with Mod Podge mixed with water. When that was dry I applied Slime and Green Man Infusions with a water sprayer and A Bit Jaded Infusions with a brush and colored in some places. I  With a piece of washi tape I removed a bit of the infusions along withe the mod poge layer so the white embossing appeared again.

Rainbow City Life card video tutorial

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Rainbows". We are also showcasing Tim Holtz products this week. We would love to see those in your project if you have them.


So glad I got my Oxide Distress Inks in time to use for this Tim Holtz Rainbow challenge. It's my first attempt with these inks and I'm so happy with them. It's so cool that they can be layered without getting mud and even light colors on a dark background is possible. So cool. For my background, I've used eight different oxide Inks, I think that my new record of number inks used in a project!

  I had also fun using other Tim Holtz products like the new Foam stamps. I need to experiment more with them. I expect they would work well with Oxide Distress Inks too. Another awesome product of Tim I used for my project is the Cityscape Skyline die. Totally happy with this one. Perfect for the theme I had in mind.

  I also have used non Tim Holtz products, like Prima Marketing Wax. These smell very delicious! This brings an smile to my face for sure. I used two different kinds: Bronze Age Metallique Wax Vintage Silk Magic Opal Wax. This I applied to the Skyline. Such cool stuff.
