12 tags of 2013 - December

Hi everyone,

Can you believe it that it's New Years Eve? What a wonderful year it's been! Well there were also some low points, but that's life I guess. I'm so ready for 2014! To make it even a better year with more wonderful things.
To close of the year I wanna share with you the December tag I made for Tim's 12 tags of 2013. My resolutions for the new year are not waiting till the last day to enter Tim's tags... hihihi.

Unfortunately I almost don't have a single product Tim has used to make his tag. Such as the frosted film, clearly for art, the tattered poinsettia, Wendy archival ink and the stencils.
So I used a normal transparent sheet with matte transfer tape. The advantage was that this makes hardly any air bubbles. Unfortunately Archival ink does not work on the transfer tape. It simply doesn't "stick" to it. Alcohol ink is a very good replacement, and I like the effect of alcohol ink very much. When it was time to form the flowers with the heat tool, it was a bit difficult. It reacted a bit different then I expected.

12 tags of 2013 - November

Hi everyone,

 

With only a few hours to go before the entry closes, I want to share this tag I made for Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2013 for the month November. During Creative Chemistry 102 I wasn't able to try it because I didn't have the Frosted Crystal Embossing Powder. But luckily I managed to get my hands on it. But I also needed regular blackboard chalk. I work at a university of applied science, but in these advanced times they don't use chalk and blackboards any more. But I also managed to get some good old chalk.

What a super fun technique the Chalk one is! It's not difficult at all, the only thing you need to be careful with is that you don't overheat the Frosted Crystal. I saw that there were some grains overheated ​​here and there. But as long as it's a few grains you're good to go and it only adds to the effect.



To decorate it a bit more, I used some washi tape and I colored some Modeling Paste with Modern Red and Dash of Red Studio Paint. I used it with the Dot Fade Layering Stencil. Over the dots, I added some exclusive Simon Says Stamp Mini Hearts  I cut out and I used the 25 of the Christmas Stacked Words and embossed it with Black Embossing Powder.

12 tags of 2013 - October

Hi everyone,

Tomorrow is Halloween and I haven't done as much Halloween projects as I would have liked. Where does the time go? Tim has put us to work for 12 tags of 2013 for October and it's a Halloween tag! Yes!

My tag is slightly darker-than actually was intended. But I like it better this way. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I don't seem to get the glitter to stick properly. Next time I'll use more glossy accents, maybe that's the trick. Almost no glitter stayes on when coloring it wiht Distress Ink. Although I do love the worn look of it!

Hi everyone,

Don't know what it is, but the last few months I can only find the time for the 12 tags of 2013 at the end of the month. Busy busy busy. But that doesn't mean it's less fun to do of course. Tim has made another beautiful tag ​​with his new stencils. Unfortunately I haven't got those (yet). But I have a lot of other stencils, so I could manage.

 

I'm so glad that Tim uses bright colors more often in his tags, which makes me to use them too. I often use one bright accent color in my projects, but to make such a variegated color fest myself, isn't something that I would do very quickly, while the result is really beautiful.





Like most of the time I've used as much of the same products that Tim used. If I didn't have it, I chose something similar. I'm a fan of building many layers build with ink and/or paint. It doesn't always have to be bulky.

Hi everyone,

What beautiful tags Tim made ​​for the 12 tags of 2013 of August! I think it's such a cool technique to build up layers with only ink and stamps. To create lots of dimension that way is almost magic.

Masking tape for this technique is really your best friend. I had quite a bit of trouble with building the layers. But I'm quite satisfied with the end result. Tim's Parisian stamps are really beautiful! Paris really is a city I love to visit, I think it's also the city where I have been abroad most often.

Hi everyone,

It's time for Tim's July tag, and I'm again just at the last minute with my entry. Tim has made another beautiful tag ​​full with great techniques. So cool to make a background with a brayer and stains. I never thought of doing that on my own. When I saw the tag in the beginning of the month, I knew I wanted to use my new London stamps for this tag.



To fade the stamps a bit into the background, I tapped the stamp on the inkpad first, and then wiped it with the ink path. This leaves a small amount of ink on the stamp, and a bit more ink remains into the notches and that creates more dimension.



The pocket watch I first painted black and then coated it with Rock Candy. And I stamped the pocket watch on top with the gold Paint Dabber.



The "thank you" I have taken over from the original tag of Tim, because that theme is independence day.

Hi everyone,

I'm just in time to join the 12 tags of 2013 for the month of June. It's all been so busy around here and actually that still is the case. But fortunately I found a little bit time to participate. I haven't missed a single one yet and I'm not about to start now! What a gorgeous tag Tim has made for us. With this tag we can go crazy with lots of different Distress techniques. Also he used lots of Distress Products: Distress Ink, Distress Stain, Distress Paint and Distress Markers.

I love the background with 3 different products and colors. Don't think I would ever have thought of trying it. I used the same colors and products for my background. I must admit that I rarely use the Distress Markers, and unfortunately my Picket Fence Marker completely dried out. I tried to save it, first with water and then with Ink Refresher but unfortunately, it doesn't work anymore. But I had so much fun coloring with them. I need to do that more often!

Hi everyone,

Wow, I'm so happy that I won with the April tag of the 12 tags of 2013! I almost couldn't believe it when I read it! I'm still most definitely over the moon with joy! Thanks so much, Tim, for choosing my tag! But enough about the tag of last month. It's now time for the May tag of the 12 tags of 2013. Because Tim has made such a stunning tag yet again.  Full of beautiful bright colors. Here is my take on it.

The colors that Tim chose are a real challenge for me, so I used the same colors to break a bit out of my comfort zone. I still have got Paris on my mind. But Tim also has used Mona, so I think you can forgive me... I really like the effect of the rub-on resist. I have a bunch of old rub-ons, which I will certainly give this technique a try with.

Hi everyone,

Yeah, finally time for the Tim Holtz april 12 tags of 2013! Ohh and it's yet another beautiful tag. I'm so glad it's with the Distress Paints. I really need more practice with these new additions. Tim uses such beautiful color combos that I would never try myself and that is why I used the same colors as him, to get a bit out of my comfort zone. And I'm happy I give those colors a try.

Of course I still gave my own twist, to it, as I always try to do. In 3 weeks time I go to Paris and I I'm so excited that I've made it the theme of this tag too. But honestly I simply don't have the dragonfly stamp, so that's why I had to chose something else. And I used also a 1, because 14 is my fav number. For the numbers I used the Word Play die. I played with the Remnant Rubs for the first time, and they are so much fun! Love the texts!

Hi everyone,

Spring has officially begun, but the weather here certainly isn't contributing to that fact. But that shouldn't spoil the fun to get busy with Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2013. Where the March tag is lovely spring/easter-like. I've been putting it off for a while, because I had so many other things I had to do first, but luckily today I finally found the time to go for it.

I chose to not make it really Easter-like, but more spring. That's why I didn't use the bunny, but the mini gear mover and shaper, that has to pass like a little sun... Do you see it?? I'm so happy with the Distress Paints, and then yesterday  the amazing news that the paints  also come in metallics is fantastich. I have to get me those! haha. I have done far too little with the distress paints, and was glad that I could play with them again!

Hi everyone,

What did Tim Holtz spoil us with another stunning tag. I'm delighted that he continues this year with the 12 tags! What a gorgeous tag he has made for us​​. I honestly had a little struggle because I didn't have the  beautiful blueprint stamps and I needed to find a replacement. But I'm happy with my alternative

This time I made ​​two tags at once, because I have a swap but I also want to have all the 12 tags for myself. I've never made ​​a project multiple times simultaneously, usually when I need to make more than one, I make a sample first and then I make the rest simultaneously. But then you already know what you want to do. It was a fun experience!





The heart on the wings is an exclusive stamp from Simon Says Stamp! And I cut it out with the matching die. The round tag is an exclusive too! What are those cute huh?
I don't have Kraft Core so as an alternative to emphasize the embossing I used red chalk.

Hi everyone,

First I like to thank everyone who send me birthday wishes! I had a wonderful birthday, I've really been spoiled rotten :)

It's been a really busy time for me, but next week things will go back to normal. That's one of the reasons I'm this late with the January tag of 12 tags of 2013. I really like this tag a lot. And I decided to use as much of it as I could. I'm very glad that I've done that with the colors, I neve use those Distress colors, which really is a shame, because they go really beautiful together!
