Cuppa card with video tutorial

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Four Legged Friends".

So yes, four legged friends. I found a super adorable friend for my card, Enervy from Katzelkraft. What a cutie, don't you agree? I started by stamping him in the background and coloring him with Distress Oxides. Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso for the fur, Shaded Lilac for the eyes and Distress Ink Black Soot for the collar. I once saw in a color tutorial to use a light purple instead of a gray for shadows for the eyes. And Distress Oxided Shaded Lilac is perfect for that.

 

I did the background in two parts, because I wanted the bottom of the card to be darker than the top. To protect Enervy while coloring the background, I made a mask and to make sure nothing can get underneath, I ran Enervy through the Vagabond between a few layers of printer paper to press the masking tape down properly. This also prevents that the masking tape become loose during drying it with a heat tool.

For the bottom I used Distress Oxide Frayed Burlap, Speckled Egg and Distress Ink Speckled Egg and Stormy Sky. For the top I used Distress Ink Speckled Egg and Distress Oxide Antique Linen.

Party Wings card with video tutorial

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Things with Wings".

Today I'm making a card for my brother, his birthday is in a few weeks. First I started making a stencil with the Mixed Media # 6 die. Unfortunately, this is no longer available at Simon Says Stamp, but you can use this technique with so many other dies. To add some texture I applied Texture Paste with my own stencil. After that was dry I building up colors with Distress Spray Stain and Distress Oxide Spray. I'm expanding my collection with sprays a bit more, because I'm using sprays more often recently.

 

I noticed that the Crushed Olive Distress Oxide Spray didn't want to stay on top of the Black Soot Oxide Spray, even though this layer was dry. After a few layers I gave up and know this for the next time. My impression was that with a light color of  Oxide could even go over a dark one. Works with stamping, but not with sprays, at least I can't  make it work ;).
