12 tags of 2013 - August

Hi everyone,

What beautiful tags Tim made for the 12 tags of 2013 of August! I think it's such a cool technique to build up layers with only ink and stamps. To create lots of dimension that way is almost magic.
Masking tape for this technique is really your best friend. I had quite a bit of trouble with building the layers. But I'm quite satisfied with the end result. Tim's Parisian stamps are really beautiful! Paris really is a city I love to visit, I think it's also the city where I have been abroad most often.

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Hugs,
Sandra

Dotty Travel Map Holder

Hi everyone,

A new Monday means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, this week we are looking for something dotty. As long as there some dots in your project, you're good to go. Such as polka dots, dots on washi tape, or dots in a stencil or stamp. Have fun with this dotty challenge!

A few weeks ago, I've been to London and I always like to make some useful things for my trips. Such as my travel note book that I made a few weeks back. So I wanted to make something where I can store my mapes in and I can easily access them and find the way through such a big city. But also to store the detail maps for when we come out of the subway and we know where to walk to from there.

It is never sure if it's as convenient as you think, but I must say that it was very handy indeed.
This map folder is made from the very beautiful Teresa Collins Fly Away Paper Pad. I used the corresponding washi tape with it, along with some dots washi tape. It was quite a puzzle to figure out how I wanted it. But I soon knew I wanted the maps of the underground, the bus and the overall map behind a transparency on the inside. This I adhered together with washi tape on the edges. On the front I made a place to store my metro card in. That part we didn't use. It's more handy to keep the metro card in your pocket for easy access. And on the back I made a place to hold the detail maps.

I made it a bit in the same style as I did the travel notebook. So that it matched. I made two of them and one I covered in Glue N Seal and the other I didn't... Well I can recommend to use some Glue N Seal, because else all the washi tape and other bits will come off.

Carnival Cirque

Hi everyone,

Hope you have had a lovely weekend! It's Monday again and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge has another fun theme for you. It's Carnival! From circus to the masks of Venice, it is all possible. Get inky and play along.

I thought of Mardi Gras when I heard what the challenge was, and I wanted to play with the three main colors of this party. Green, Yellow and Purple. But also with a bit of circus touches. What I find a very cool technique is to create a lot of layers with only ink and paint. So decided to do that on a tag.

First I created a background with Picket Fence Distress Paint and a stencil that will serve as a resist.
Then I started working with Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn and Seedless Perservers Distress Ink to get a nice colored background. The more ink you apply the more the paint will act as a resist. It was exciting because I had no idea whether these colors together would blend well together. I think they do beautifully!

The foundation has been done and now it's time for some stencils. I especially used same colors in combination with a stencil to get the more dimension in the color. After the stencil work, I some stamps out for a little bit of play and made more layers. The only thing that is real dimension are the wooden stars at the bottom that I painted black.

Little Miss Tag

Hi everyone,

Time flies by so fast, it's Monday allready. Hopefully you've had a wonderful weekend. I'm in London now, enjoying a few days away. Although I'm abroad this minute, Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge has a real fun challenge this week. A die cut challenge! So take out your favorite dies or the die cuts that you've layering around for ages. It's time to have some fun with lots and lots die cuts! Well only if you want to of course!

I don't very often make girly things, but when I went through my paperpads for inspiration, I saw the Bo Bunny Little Miss 6x6 paper pad and I knew that I wanted to make something with it. And make a tag with it. The tag is just slightly longer than 6 inches, so I cut the lower edge off, so now it fits.

I always have the most fun to dress up the dress form of the Sewing Room. This time I painted the top and base dark brown and covered with Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint. Such a cool effect those crackles. On top of that I made a layer with sticky back canvas, so it looks like it's a real dress form. From the H&M catalog I got my inspiration for the dress. First I traced the dress form and then sketched the dress.

The hearts are die cut from the Little Miss paperpad, the dies are exclusive of Simon Says Stamp! I've sewn them on with my sewing machine.

Traveling Notebook

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge has another fun challenge for you. The theme of this week is "You've got airmail". When I think of airmail, I think of airplanes,  when I think of airplanes I think of traveling. So I made this travel notebook I will take it with me on my trips. I can't wait to see what you come up with for this challenge!

I wanted something where I can store my receipts, brochures and other things that I gather during my trips in. I also wanted to have room to write my adventures down. I used the stunning Fly Away paper line by Teresa Collins, together with the matching stamps and washi tape. To cover the spine I used Bazzil Kraft card stock.

The cover I kept as flat as possible so that it's convenient to travel with and not everything falls off or gets damaged. The wooden camera and potty girl will probably be okay... I hope...

On the left I made three compartments to store my gathered stuff in. There is room for small receipts to larger brochures or maps.
On the right I made room for journaling. Here I can write my adventures. I have a transparency sheet and decorated with washitape to ensure that the paper will stay nice and not curl or get dirty.
