12 tags of 2016 - September

Hi everyone,

As usual, for me it's time for the 12 tags for me at the end of the month. This month get to play with Yupo. During CC103 I had another brand  of Yupo paper, and some techniques didn't work. Like this one. Meanwhile, I have purchased the Ranger Yupo, and it works like magic. Yippie!

The background of the tag is almost completely covered by the Yupo, but it was fun to do the Paint Patina technique again.

With the Yupo I had a lot of fun, I'm so happy that this time it worked a lot better after my fiasco with the other brand of Yupo. Didn't think there was much difference between the brands. But now I know that it was not me ;) ....

Perfect Powder Masculine card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about using powders like embossing or pigment powders.

It's been a while since I used my Brusho powders, and this challenge is perfect for this. I don't like that from the four colors I have but one has the true pigment powder of the color it should be. My black and gray, consisting of countless other colors and only if I mix it with water before I apply it, it's gray or black. Same goes for the olive color. I don't like the effect I get because of the color explosion I get, while I just want black and grey pigments. But fortunately the Prussian Blue consists 99,5% of the color that it should be. That's why I only use the Prussian Blue Brusho.

This time I've used it a bit differently than the last time (that's almost a year ago ... time flies!) I wanted the stamp to scrisp so you can see what it is. For the background I stamped the gears with Faded Jeans. The edge of the top left gear bothered me, so I wanted to blend that out. But I got a cool watercolor effect instead. That gave me the idea to do that in several places and eventually all the way around.

Despite the watercolor cardstock, the pigments of the Brusho are so strong that I didn't get much color off... I've done the edges with Black Soot Distress Crayon. Yes, I know, it's my new way to darken up the edges lately.

Umbrella card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about being inspired by music. Music in general, a musical instrument or a song.

It was fun to go for a song title this time, in these kind of challenges I'm normally inspired to do a project in general and in this case a music inspired one. I was going back and forth between Set Fire to the Rain by Adele and Rihanna's Umbrella. That's why the background colors are red and yellow/orange to represent fire. But finally I chose for Umbrella as I wanted to use the Simon Says Stamp Umbrella Shaker die.

The colors I used for the background are Barn Door and Amber Fossilized Distress Ink, along with a little Ground Espresso and some Black Soot Distress Crayon. I'm still absolutely in love with the effect of the effect it gives.
tI went around the edges of The umbrella with black and white for extra contrast. I also made umbrella transparent with Glossy Accents. The letters I cut out foil cardstock that I had found when I cleaned my craft room the other day.

Night at the Cinema card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about At the Movies, it's a film inspired challenge and we are showcasing Spellbinder Products. You don’t have to use them to join in with the challenge but if you have them we would love to see them used.

For this challenge I was not inspired by a particular film, but by going to the movies. Every week I go to the cinema and watch a movie with a friend of mine. The Spellbinder product I used was the Picnic Embossing Folder as a background for my cinema. It was a bit scary, because I didn't realize Spellbinders doesn't work with the standard Sizzix sandwich. I nearly wrecked my Vagabond ... Whoops!

I had to think of a moment about what color I would give this stone wall, of course it had to be Fired Brick. For a bit of the distressed look I used Ground Espresso. The edges are done with Distress Crayon Black Soot.

The Pediment (Thanks Marzena!) I painted black with a Dabber made some texture. After the paint was dry, I applied Distress Crayon  Picket Fence to create the look as if it was concrete. The edges I made darker with Distress Crayon Black Soot.
The lightbox is simply made with a piece of white cardstock and darkened the edges with Black Soot Distress Crayon.

Stampin it for STAMPtember with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! I am sure you all know that STAMPtember® is a very special month in the Simon Says Stamp Store calendar and this week we are asking you to use a stamp, no digi images allowed.

https://www.simonsaysstamp.com/category/Shop-Simon-Releases-Stamptember

This month Simon Says Stamp is giving away an amazing prize, a dream craft room! Click here for more details.

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/giveawayrules/

It's been a while since I've used washi tape for the Monday Challenge, andthe Henna Patterns Stamp set made me think of washi tape. So I used that on my take alon with actually washi tape. I've colored it in with Hickory Smoke Distress Crayon and Peacock Feathers Distress Marker.

The background I made by using Schoolhouse with Grid Paste. When it was dry, I applied the first coat with Bundled Sage Distress and Paint Peeled Paint Distress Stain. Then applied a few Distress Inks to create more depth.

The Thankful and Cottage Stems dies are also of the new STAMPtember release. I both painted them black with the Pitch Black Paint Dabber. On the Cottage Stems I've applied the Rust Paste from Prima Marketing. If this paste is still wet, the color is more intense than when it is dry. Then it gets a matte finish so it really looks like rust.
