12 tags of 2014 - february

Hi everyone,

Yes, we get to play with the 12 tags of 2014 again! This time it's a fun Valentine tag, which is also very fitting for the month of February. Tim made a beauty, like always!

Tim has such beautiful products and lots of them. Unfortunately I don't have them all (maybe when I win the lottery...), but I tried to make the best of it like I always do. I had just ordered this stamp set before the tag came out, lucky lucky lucky!

So I instead of using Distress Glitter I used the old Stickles. I don't have the industrious stickers, so I used the Cork Arrow instead, which I covered with Gesso and then painted it with Brushed Pewter Distress Paint.

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Hugs,
Sandra

Make your life big

Hi everyone,

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge has another amazing challenge for you! This week it's all about "paste". You can make a collage with your favorite glue, or maybe create beautiful textures with modeling paste. Let's get creative!

I'm so ready for my favorite season of the year. Although we have an extremely mild winter, here in the Netherlands. I really miss everything being in bloom and that wonderful spring smell. So this tag I have made to celebrate that it is almost there, right around the corner. At least I hope. Officially, spring starts next month...

With this tag I started with the Bubble stencil and Peeled Paint and Bundled Sage Distress Paint. In order to bring a little resist layer to the tag. Then it was Wild Honey, Peacock Feathers and Crushed Olive Distress Inks turn. I think it's a great ink for making beautiful backgrounds. And with a litlle Spritz and Flick it gives such a nice droplet effect. To drawn everything a bit more to the center I distressed the edges of the tag with Gathered Twiggs Distress Ink.

The Fabulous Flourishes stamp is perfect for the spring theme and it's also a great backdrop for the exclusive Leaves Stencil from Simon Says Stamp. If you know me a little you know that I like to work with Modeling Paste and also like to color it with paint. This time with Lettuce Paint Dabber. I let the modeling dry a little and then placed back the Leaves Stencil and stamped with the She Art Print Texture stamp. Some places were not completely dry and has now a slight impression. Just a nice bonus!

Gelatos Party

Hi everyone,

This week is all about "a Cameo Appearance" at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! What do you think about when you think of a cameo? A guest appearance by a celebrity in a show, you want to play with your Silhouette Cameo perhaps a vintage necklace? Let's get inspired and join us!

When I think of a cameo I think of silhouettes. That's why I have used the Silhouette stencil from Jenni Bowlin for the invitations to my party. For this card, I started working with my Gelatos Designer Kit and 50's Diner. I simply can't get enough of playing with my Gelatos. I just love the drippage and remove methods. Those are so much fun. Click here for the instructions on these techniques. This time I used the remove technique with the exclusive Diagonal Stripe Stencil from Simon Says Stamp.

The Silhouette stencil Jenni Bowlin got a boy and girl silhouette facing each other and this in a repeating pattern. I only wanted three girls silhouettes facing the same direction. I masked off the boy silhouette and used the two outer girls with Black Soot Distress Paint colored Modeling Paste mixed with Distress Embossing Powder Black Soot in it for texture. To get the middle girl precisely aligned I have marked her position. Once the boys are masked off, it's difficult to align.

For more contrast, I stamped the Retro Circles by Tim Holtz with Archival Jet Black Ink. I've made splashes with Black Marble Dylusions Spray. Because of the way the Gelatos reacts with Distress Ink, you can see the lines through the letters of the School House Stencil.

Stamp loving

Hi everyone,

This week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge it's all about: we love stamps! I'm sure you love them too, so why don't you join in and get inky!

I consider myself a real stamp lover. So this is a challenge right up my alley. But I had a hard time with it, because this card is made for someone that is going through something big in her life and I wanted to let her know I'm thinking about her and I'm there for her.

First I cut the Manila cardstock to the right size and then covered it with Gesso. A non-porous surface alows the Gelatos to move easier and not immediately soak into the paper when it gets wet. As the main stamp I used the Hot Air Balloon from Tim Holtz. This is one of my favorites main image stamps. To me it represents hope. I've stamped it with Versamark and I used it with Black Embossing Powder to give a resist.

I wanted to create a sort of rainbow effect. So on the bottom of the card I applied three colors Gelatos. Spritzed it with a little bit of water and it comes to life and made some drippage. It didn't quite blend as I had envisioned, but I am still very happy with the result.

Because the surface is gessoed, and therefor non- porous, you can also remove the color with a stencil and a baby wipe so you get a pattern in it.

To give it more of a artsy look, I sure love to splatter some Black Marble ink on it!

Often is a card not complete without washi tape! She loves hummingbirds and that makes the card complete!

Big Hugs

Hi everyone,

A new Monday means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. It's almost Valentine's Day and therefor this week's the theme is 'Love Letters'. Will you make a card with heart? Create a journal entry about someone (or something) you love? Perhaps use vintage postage as your latest inspiration… whatever inspires you – we can’t wait to see your love letters!

This card I made for Patricia, a dear friend of mine who I met in blogland. A little while ago, it was her birthday. So it's not a Valentine's card but a birthday card. She is such a sweetheart!

I started with the collaging pieces of paper from the Printery Paper Pad  collection. And colored each area I in red or pink with my Gelatos.

It was not quite how imagined it. I wanted the background color more intense, so I painted painted over them. To get more dimension and creating shading effects I used the Gelatos and the Big Pens.

For the design, I used the exclusive Big Hugs die from Simon Says Stamp. Before I cut it out I covered it with Kelly Purkey's Red Chevron Washi Tape. I'm still absolutely in love the Label Letters! Wink (as the theme is love letters...)
