12 tags of 2016 - January

Hi everyone,

It's Tim tag time again. Fortunately, Tim has decided to continue the 12 tags in 2016. For this year, he's gonna remix techniques from previous years in a new tag. What a great idea! For the January tag, he used the techniques of November 2013 and January 2014.

It's great revisit some of those "older" techniques again. But learning new techniques, is something I enjoy even more. I'm sure we're gonna learn some new techniques from Tim as well in future tags.

Loving Art Journal Spread with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Love or using red. Valentine's day is just a few weeks away and we're already in using red modus. We are showcasing Dina Wakley products this week, but you don't have to. If you have some, we would love to see them in your project.

Last week I had so much fun creating my art journal spread, that I wanted to do another one this week. I didn't know how to begin. Lately I see more and more magazine art, but as a focal point for the artwork. But I wanted to use it just as a background. Unfortunately this part wasn't captured on video due to technical difficulties ... I used an Ikea catalog for my background. Those pages are too small to completely cover the spread. So I picked out two pages. I'm an Ikea fan and I like do an ode to Ikea with this spread. It may not be the correct colors of Ikea (yellow and blue), but red and pink is for my love for Ikea! I have an Ikea in my town and I love to go there, most of my furniture is from the Ikea. Love that store!

This is my first time that I worked with the Dylusion Paints. Bubblegum Pink is really an amazing color. I applied it with a baby wipe after I first applied a thin layer of Gesso. In the beginning the line of the two catalog pages was very clear. But by adding layers and more layers it faded into the background. Love the depth it gives the pages. This spread has given me lots more ideas for future projects.

For the bricks I've used Dash of Red, it's discontinued. I still have them, in every color, and I'm going to use them untill they are empty or dried up. What is great about the Dash of Red color is that when it's  mixed with Embossing Paste it gets a cherry pink color. In full light, it's more of a pink and when it's darker it looks more like red.

Below you can view the whole process of how I made this spread. Enjoy!
