Wish upon a star

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and are you ready for a new Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge? This week you can go totally crazy with stars! As you might know I'm so in to the little wooden stars. I can literly use them on every project. Well, maybe I will do that...

This card I made for my best friend Lein. Just after Christmas we had a crafty afternoon with some girlfriends and that's when she told us! I'm so happy for her! In my eyes she is a big star and she is always there for everyone! She truly is the best friend I could wish for!

I'm crazy about the Metallic Marbled Stain technique (I don't know the official name) and I done that on to this design paper. It gives a very nice effect which unfortunately you can't see very well in the picture. All the way in the back, I have used a piece of Tissue Wrap, so it wasn't to white and bright. With my Silhouette Cameo, I cut the two stars and the star on top I gave a nice coat of Rock Candy Crackle Paint.

To join in all you need to do is make a project that fits this weeks challenge and you can be the winner of the $50 gift voucher that our amazing sponsor Simon Says Stamp offers. This prize will go to a random entry. So go over to the Stamp and Show Challenge blog, let the DT members inspire you and join in the fun!

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

You & Me Rock

Hi everyone,

It's been very long time since I've join it with DCL and it was so overdue to participate again. So I went over to their blog and saw that they had a very nice sketch! I'm honestly not very good at sketches, because I find it very hard to stick to the sketch. But I think I succeeded. I can see the sketch in it, hopefully you too :).
For the background I used Lemon Zest Dylusion Spray with the & Mask of Mister Huey's. Love that mask! I wanted it to pop, so I offset it and drew a outline around it. All the stamps and dies are EXCLUSIVES from Simon Says Stamp. Look below in the product list to see what I've used.

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

It's my party!

Hi everyone,

The weather here in the Netherlands is very wintery! It is very cold and slippery outside. Fortunately Simon Says Stamp and Show a new challenge for us to keep us busy and inside! It's one that makes you think a bit, at least that's what I had to do. The challenge is, "What I'm known for"? I had to dig deep to figure out what I'm known for, and I think it's my use of embellishments. Like the wooden stars, and jute twine. I use both almost for all my projects when I get the chance. In daily life I'm known as the lemonade girl, especially at work. I don't like coffee and don't drink tea often... I drink lemonade all day... Not the best thing for me, I know...

Anyway, on with the card that I made. It is the invitation that I have sent to my friends for my birthday party I recently gave. I started with a white background and made some spletters with Glimmer mist and Dylusion Sprays. Then with stamps and distress ink made some texture. I love the Sew Stampers! Although the ink really stays wet for a long time, have you noticed that? And put a bunch of washi tape on it. The Memory Box Alphabet Dies are really great. Gorgeous font! Love that they are separable.

12 tags of 2013 - January

Hi everyone,

First I like to thank everyone who send me birthday wishes! I had a wonderful birthday, I've really been spoiled rotten :)
It's been a really busy time for me, but next week things will go back to normal. That's one of the reasons I'm this late with the January tag of 12 tags of 2013. I really like this tag a lot. And I decided to use as much of it as I could. I'm very glad that I've done that with the colors, I neve use those Distress colors, which really is a shame, because they go really beautiful together!

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Happy Girl

Hi everyone,

I wanna begin this post to thank Terry for being on this amazing DT and for all that she did as this is her last challenge with us. She is so talented and that didn't go unnoticed, because she joined two other DT's! Terry, I wanna wish you the best of luck. I will keep in touch my friend!

Yippy, it's my birthday today and I'm in the mood for a little party! That's great, because Simon Says Stamp and Show has another amazing challenge for us and it's one where we can go crazy with lace and doilies! Something I need to do more often! I have enough doily stamps and lots of lace to do so! I did manage to not go overboard with this one. Well I think I didn't....

Celebrating my birthday always makes me happy, even though it means that I've become another year older. Think it's particularly nice to see my friends all together. And happy is the just word for this tag. The quote from Audrey Hepburn is so true!

For the background I used bright happy colors, such as Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves Distress ink. On the edges I stamped the half Maya Road Doily stamps. I think the mini gears also look like doilies, don't you agree?

Finally I used my Vintage Lace die, that I bought more than a month ago and hadn't used yet. Shame on me! Whahaha!

Following my muse

Hi everyone,

Today I joining in the fun with Frilly and Funkie where the challenge is to follow your muse. At the moment I'm really crazy about the color Peacock Feathers, my muse screams that to use that color everytime at the moment. I need to do other color combo's as well...

My father's birthday is this Friday and made this card for him. I hope he likes it. He always says what he honestly thinks about it and that is not always what I like to hear... He thinks the process of making it is amazing, but it's not always his taste. I'm very curious what he thinks of this card... Fingers crossed! LOL

For the background I used my favorite Tim technique of the moment. I don't know what it's officialy called. It's the one with the regular Distress Stains in combination with a metallic Distress Stain. Here's a video of that technique with more inspiration for the use of the metallic stains!

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Embrace the old

Hi everyone,

It is the first Monday of 2013 and Simon Says Stamp and Show has a new challenge for us! This time the theme is "embrace the old". You can spin it the way you like, whether you use an old technique, use an old stamp, make something look old or maybe you think of something completely different, it is all possible.

When I think of "embrace the old" I immediately think of timeworn techniques. Because I am crazy about making things look old. If it's bydistressing, grunging it up or time worn techniques, I just love it. I'm always looking for ways to make things look old.

For this week, I've altered an empty cigar box that I got from Lein. For some reason I'm always a bit hesitant to alter things, but when I'm in my groove (lol) then I really enjoy it very much. First I covered the box with pieces of cardstock and adhered some embellishments. Painted it all black and then I did the Andy Skinner's Drybrush technique to make it look really old. This is really my favorites timeworn technique!

To join in all you need to do is make a project that fits this weeks challenge and you can be the winner of the $50 gift voucher that our amazing sponsor Simon Says Stamp offers. Tim's birthday card

Hi everyone,

First, I want to wish you all a happy new year. That 2013 may be the best year ever! In every way, work, private atmosphere and of course in the creative way!

In a few days time it's the King of Grunge, aka Tim Holtz, birthday and Linda from Studio L3 deticated the last Compendium of Curiosities Challenge to it. We were could chose to use one or more techniques out of the first or second book. I chose Tissue Wrap Collage technique from the second book. This can be found on page 38.

It was a real hassle to mail it, because the mailboxes were temporarily closed because of all the fireworks since last Saterday and they should be open today. But unfortunately that was not the case. Then I went to the post office, which was closely related to inventory.... Fortunately I overheard at the supermarket that another post office a little further away was open! Yes! Mission accomplished!

Anyway, again go back to the card. I made a cheerful happy card, and not steampunky as last year. Today I had finally bought the birdcage die, and it was perfect for my card. On the cage I used the Dry Brush technique by Andy Skinner. I really love this technique.

The inside of the card I did the technique that Tim has shown in the December tag of the 12 2012 tags.

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Hugs,
Sandra
