Hi everyone,
This week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge it's all about: we love stamps! I'm sure you love them too, so why don't you join in and get inky!
I consider myself a real stamp lover. So this is a challenge right up my alley. But I had a hard time with it, because this card is made for someone that is going through something big in her life and I wanted to let her know I'm thinking about her and I'm there for her.
First I cut the Manila cardstock to the right size and then covered it with Gesso. A non-porous surface alows the Gelatos to move easier and not immediately soak into the paper when it gets wet. As the main stamp I used the Hot Air Balloon from Tim Holtz. This is one of my favorites main image stamps. To me it represents hope. I've stamped it with Versamark and I used it with Black Embossing Powder to give a resist.
I wanted to create a sort of rainbow effect. So on the bottom of the card I applied three colors Gelatos. Spritzed it with a little bit of water and it comes to life and made some drippage. It didn't quite blend as I had envisioned, but I am still very happy with the result.
Because the surface is gessoed, and therefor non- porous, you can also remove the color with a stencil and a baby wipe so you get a pattern in it.
To give it more of a artsy look, I sure love to splatter some Black Marble ink on it!
Often is a card not complete without washi tape! She loves hummingbirds and that makes the card complete!
To join in all you need to do is make a project that fits this weeks challenge and you can be the winner of the $50 gift voucher that our amazing sponsor Simon Says Stamp offers. This prize will go to a random entry. So go over to the Stamp and Show Monday Challenge blog, let the DT members inspire you and join in the fun!
Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!
Hugs,
Sandra

Ok ... Sandra I am really floored by the idea of *removing* ink from a project through a stencil. That is an incredible idea. I so have to try that!! Gorgeous colors and that balloon is one of my favorite stamps as well. Thanks for the inspiration!! -- Mary Elizabeth
