Time is on your side

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and it's time for a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. DT member Tracy suggested a "winged things" themed challenge. What do you think of? Fairies, birds or perhaps airplanes. Love to see what you'll come up with.

One of my favorite stamps is the Wings stamp from Tim Holtz. This is also one of the first stamps I bought when I started paper crafting. I wanted to combine it with the Time Traveller stamp, with the thought that time flies, but not for a Time Traveler. I found the contradiction very funny. Hence the sentiment.

First I stamped the Time Traveler on my card base, then again on a piece of masking paper. After a bit of fuzzy cutting I placed it over the stamped image. Over it I stamped the wings. I didn't masked those off. With some Pumice Stone Distress Ink, I started to make the background.

The Clockwork stencil fits perfectly with my theme. I applied it with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. I've made the edges darker with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. To give it more depth I used the Crackle and the Curious text stamps.

With this card, I've tried to create a lot of depth and layers without applying actual dimension. Such as the wings behind the Time Traveler and the Washi tape that runs behind him.

Beautiful tag! You know, I never noticed that he was holding a timepiece. I love that you emphasized that and added the wings. Wonderful idea. It really works with your theme. And beautifully executed. I love the way you used the stencil in the background too. Great tag!

You are so creative Sandra -- now when I think of wings - I do not picture them on older, proper British gentlemen. Maybe he is investigating a murder. Maybe the time of death was when the pocket watch stopped. I really love black and brown together. Wonderful Sugar - you have always love Tim Holtz!!

What a clever creation you've made! I really like how you kept the color palette subtle, and then just emphasized different parts of it with little pops of color like his hat band and his pocket watch. I also really liked the wings that you added to him. Most of all, I loved your sentiment! Time seems to be the enemy too often, so it was nice to be reminded that time can be on our side, too!
