Paint a Picture

Hi everyone,

Also this Monday, Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog has a fun new challenge for you. This week it's all about Paint! Are you not into paint, and you have Peeled Paint Distress Ink, Peeled Paint Distress Glitter, Peeled Paint Distress Marker, or anything else that bears the name Paint then that is fine too!
Paint is so much fun! It's so versatile, you can do so many cool techniques with it! In this art journal page I used paint in a few different ways. 7 to be exact.

First I applied a layer of Gesso. So that all the paint is not going through the pages. Especially for my first technique, which is mixing water with Distress Paint (Black Soot in this case) in an empty Spray Bottle. The difference to other sprays is that it's waterproof once it is dry, and that you can easily make your own sprays. I have used the spray with the Plastic Canvas stencil. Another technique that is similar to this one is the remaining paint on your brush dilute with a little water and make splatters with your brush.

The following paint technique is to apply paint through a stencil, the exclusive Leaves stencil from Simon Says Stamp. By applying a little bit of Peacock Feathers Distress Paint on the Craft Mat and swiping it up with the Mini Round Blending Tool and then gently go over the stencil so the paint doesn't come under it.

Paint can be very well used for coloring Embossing Paste. In this case, with Black Soot Distress Paint and Stencil Pack 1 Teresa Collins.
What I often do when I die cut thing and I want to do in a color, I use old cardboard packaging and paint it the color I want before die cutting. This time I with Black Soot and used Brushed Pewter also for a nice metallic effect.

One of the most difficult painting techniques, in addition to real painting, I find stamping with paint. It's about how to apply the paint, how much paint to apply and how much pressure while stamping with it. That's a lot of variables, and that takes some practice. But in an art journal it doesn't have to be perfect, so a good place to try it out.
Then we have the last painting technique, and that is the direct application of Distress Paint the edges of the pages. Gently go along the edges and voila.
