Foiled vacation album

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's: Love this technique.

When it comes to stamping there are so many techniques, from stamping with mist to embossing and so much more! This week we want you to share a project that features your favorite techniques!

There are so many techniques that I love, and so many are favorites. But my latest addiction is foiling. It's an easy technique with an amazing result. Within foiling there also are different techniques. For this album, I used the standard technique, but also one with a little twist.

What do you need for the standard foiling technique?
  • themic foil (Minc, Therm O Web or Ranger)
  • a laser printed item (Heidi Swapp has lots in her Minc collection, or a custom design that's printed with a laser printer at home or at the copyshop)
  • The Minc machine or a laminator
The last few years I'm going on city breaks and then I've more pictures than I've got text, with a summer holiday it's different. Then I make less pictures and I've much more to tell. With foil you can work well with dark backgrounds and this gives it a very cool effect. Great for a vacation album.

How does the standard foiling technique work?
Step 1: Print  with a the laser printer what you want. In my case text on black cardstock. Or use an item from the Minc line
Step 2: Lay the foil on top of the laser-toner-covered piece. I used Minc foil.
Step 3: Run it through the laminator / Minc. I used a regular laminator.
Step 4: Remove the foil

There is a lot of remaining foil that you can reuse. So don't throw it away.

How does the standard foiling technique with a twist work?
Step 1: Print with the laser printer a large black square
Step 2: Run it through the cutting machine with the desired die. I've cut it into pieces and placed it on the Word Play die
Step 3: Place a piece of masking tape sticky side up and tape it to a normal sheet of printer paper
Step 4: Lay the die cuts on the masking tape along with a piece of the remaining foil on top
Step 5: Run it through the laminator / Minc.
Step 6: Remove the foil

If you have more questions about foiling, just let me know!
