Throwback Halloween ATC's
Hi everyone,
It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Throwback: Be inspired by any previous Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
Looking back at the long list of challenges we've had over the years can be super inspiring. So this week we challenge you to pick up an older challenge of ours, maybe one you didn't have time for yet, and get inspired! Be sure to tell us which challenge your were inspired by in your entry. Want some fresh ideas? Check out what our team has come up with!
What a great idea to look back again what we have done over the years for Simon Says Stamp Challenge Monday, and our prior, the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge. When I went through all of these challenges, I saw the tag I made for Paint it up in August 2012. I hadn't used that dry brush technique for a long time and would like to apply it for these Halloween ATC's.
This technique I learned in a workshop from Andy Skinner. I started with a sheet of Neenah Solar White cardstock. To apply texture to the background I've cut up a lot of strips and pieces in various sizes. For more texture I cut out the Anique, Deluxe and Mini gears, along with the Haunted Webs.
Completely painting everything black is the hardest part. Because it has so many nooks and crannies where the paint doesn't come easily. Everytime it was dry I saw a speck of white here and there. But I finally found all the white spots, I believe. If you have already painted everything black and even started with the dry brush technique, you can always add more elements. So if you thing it's a bit plain or you have more elements you forgot to add, it's always possible! Just paint it black and then repeat the dry brush steps again.
Yes, I know, the Undertaker again, but this time the mini version! It's such a cool stamp set. And it works so well with the googly eyes. I noticed that the new remnant rubs Curiosities don't work so well on the painted surface. They wouldn't stick to it. Last year's Apothercary remnant rubs worked perfectly. And these also have a white sheet, perfect on a dark ground like this.
