Hello Friend Art Journal Spread with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Best Friends". There are lots of ways you can interpret this theme. Let's see what how you gonna interpret it.

But first a reminder! The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge  DT call closes tomorrow (january 19th) at 9am EST. So if you want the change to join our amazing team, grab it now and maybe you'll be one of our new team mates!

It's been a while since I've worked in my art journal. There were many things, like holidays and birthdays where I had to make cards for, so I didn't had the time to get my art journal out. You have also followed the releases that were announced at CHA? One of the CHA hits from Tim Holtz are the Distress Crayons, which look really cool. I really want to have those! But because these aren't available yet, I grabbed my Gelatos instead and played with those. It's also been a while that I've used them. The coolest effect of Gelatos I find is the dripping.

First I provided the page with a layer of Gesso. I wanted to have some texture for underneath the Gelatos. I added the Embossing Paste with a doily stencil. To smoothly blend the Gelatos I use my fingers after I added the water. By keeping the page vertically it starts to dripp down and you get a very cool effect.

See the video for the whole process from start to finish.

The texture here is the bomb. I did see those Distress crayons... so intriguing! But, girl: you rock those gelatos! Keep it up.

I'm so glad I stopped by! To be honest, I gave up on Gelatos because they just didn't do it for me. But I plan to try this technique and perhaps I'll use them more. I especially like your subtraction method using the punchinella stencil and baby wipes.

And everytime I see you use the metro washi I SO want some! I just love the bold graphic quality it has.

Finally, I really like the idea of working on loose paper then mounting it into a binder. It can get rather awkward working inside a bound journal and your technique really makes a lot of sense!

So cool, Sandra! Love the bright colors, and that checkerboard pattern you keep using! Wonderful texture, and love how you use your washi. Hmm, have to get the gelatos out now!

This is stunning Sandra!! Love the bright colours and cool drips. The checkerboard pattern is perfect here too.

What fantastic drips you created! I really like how they pair with the neutrals in the background. I also thought it was brilliant of you to make the checkerboard pattern so subtle! Looks amazing!
