Home Decor piece with video tutorial

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Home Decor".

This one was a challenge for me, I'm more into making cards and art journal spreads. But I really enjoyed myself creating this piece, and it gets a nice new home at a good friend of mine. I started with a layer of Opal Magic Paint Blue-Gold. Because the Cathedral Window is made out of a somewhat darker material, it became a golden color. I applied Texture Crackle Paste over it with a brush, and tried to spread it out so it I would get nice crackles. And I'm really pleased with them. Because the surface was golden, you could see it a bit between the crackles.


 

With Metallique Paint Golden Moss and Rustic Brown I made washes and applied these in several places and dried it in between before applying the next layer, and what a super cool effect it gives with the crackles. To "close" the back, I used a piece of paper from the Abandoned Paper Pack with a piece of vellum over it, to tone down the busy pattern and give it more of an effect of stain glass windows. I colored the vellum with Distress Inks, and that made to look complete (well, to me ;)).

 

For the decoration I used a Paper Doll and colored it with Distress Crayon Peeled Paint, and given her wings. I also used Wildflowers and Garden Green cutting templates and all colored with Distress Inks. Glued them with Simon Says Stamp Craft Tacky Glue. And used the same glue to adhere a piece at the bottom so it could stand up.
