Summer of Creative Chemistry - CC101 - week 4

Hi everyone,

Am still enjoying the Summer of Creative Chemistry to the fullest. This is the last week of CC101. July will be about CC102. This week, we had to make a project with Alcohol Inks. I love that, because I don't use them as often.

I've made two tags, because at the last step of my first tag, something happened that I didn't expect when I wanted to paint the butterfly with a brush, Blending Solution and yellow Alcohol Ink. Probably didn't pay enough attention during the lesson as I thought :). I didn't expect the Archival Ink which is based oil base to react with the Blending Solution which only should react with Solvent based product. Maybe the ink wasn't dry enough or maybe there is something else in Blending Solution that reactes with Oil based inks. I don't mind, love the effect it gave me. It has so what of a chalky finish. Unfortunately the pictures doesn't do it justice....

 

So I went for a second tag and had figured that embossing powder would be the solution for coloring in the butterfly with Alcohol Inks. The alcohol inks give it a matt finish on the embossed surfaces, but by melting it again with a heat tool it begins to shine beautifully again.

Pattern Paper card with video tutorial

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Pattern Papers. There are so many fabulous paper packs to choose from, but you can also make your own for this challenge!



I rarely use Pattern Papers although I love the look of them for sure. So I have a few. Recently I bought one I'm totally in love with, Sea Breeze from Kaiser Craft. I saw it months ago and couldn't wait to get it!

 

First I've selected two sheets from the Sea Breeze paper pack and distressed them with peacock feathers and Ground Espresso Distress Ink. The light one is for the front side and the other is for the back to act like a frame. I'm so used to begin with a blank sheet, but I had an idea about how I wanted it very soon after I started.



To the Crackle Texture Paste I've added Pale Silver Mica Powder. It was a bit too thick that I to add a  little water to it(that part is not in the video). Probably the reason that the crackles are hardly showing.

 

For the Wildflowers I used Pitch Black Paint Dabbers, along with Black Soot Distress Embossing Powder. I think these are discontinued. But if you have them laying around, you can create very cool texture with it, even more than you maybe know. I've applied 2 layers of both. Because I've used paint and there are release crystals in the Distress Embossing Powder, those two things makes the cool texture. The paint bubbles because of the heat and the release crystals are stuck in the paint and don't release but giv the sandy texture. It really looks like carbonized wild flowers. By applying Opal Magic Paint Alchemy in some places, the texture gets even more defined and it gets more dimension.

Summer of Creative Chemistry - CC101 - week 3

Hi everyone,

Summer of Creative Chemistry - week 3! Love watching those videos again. Although I remember quite a lot of CC101, there is also a lot that I've forgotten over the years. Perfect Pearls are great and it is great fun to work with them again. I've managed to get my hands on lots of mini sprayers, even smaller than the mini misters from Ranger. My father has a 3D printer and I'm working with him to design a holder to store them in. Once it's  finished, I'll make a picture of it.

I chose the Perfect Pearl Mist technique, along with coloring with Perfect Pearls and a waterbrush. The hot air balloon I stamped with Distress Ink Black Soot, that wasn't well thought out... But maybe because I've used the MISTI tool to stamp serveral times, that the ink didn't wick or smudged while coloring with the Perfect Pearls.

Explore the world together tag with video tutorial

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about World Traveler. As summer break has started, the traveling has begun!



I would love to travel around the world, maybe it will happen some day. For now ,I especially love taking city trips. Summer is almost here and the holidays are almost begun, and that means it's time for traveling. So I made a travel tag. I'm doing the Summer of Creative Chemistry and I fell back in love with the dark grungy vintage distress colors. I've used Peeled Paint, Forest Moss, Walnut Stain, Broken China and Ground Espresso for building up the background.

 

The Ringer stencil is going to be a new favorite, I think. So you're warned ... The die (thanks Marzena) fits perfectly with my love of city trips. And let's face it, it's much more fun to explore the world together, right? On this tag I used a few stamps from the Simon Says Stamp Enjoy the Journey stamp set they did with Darkroom Door last STAMPtember.
