Let's go to the movies

Hi everyone,

When I saw Linda's tag she made for the Compendium of Curiosities challenge​​, I almost immediately knew what the theme of mine would be. I'm really a movie fanatic and go every week to the movies with friends. The last movie I've seen is Ted! Actually I didn't know what I expect from that movie, but eventually it was incredibly funny.

The technique of this week is Riveted Patchwork and can be found on page 57. It's the same technique Tim used for the September tag of the 12tags of 2012. So I'm gonna join in another time :). This week the challenge is also sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique!





The movie ticket is from My Favorite Things. It is a stamp set with a die in the shape of a ticket! This time I did use steel wool to burnish the alcohol ink. To give the background a little more interest, I used some brown paint. And at the bottom I made with tissue paper some popcorn...

Spooky Sparkly

Hi everyone,

It's yet another Monday, and that means a new challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show! Autumn is in full swing and the colors of the leaves begin to change. The weather's also changed since iT turned autumn just a few day ago. The challenge of this week is to use some sparkle in your project. I love sparkle and shimmery in my projects. But somehow I don't use it that often. Hmm I need to change that! It's another Halloween project! I think you guys are getting crazy of my Halloween madness. Sorry guys!

For the background of this card I used Ripe Persimmon and stamped with Black Soot Distress Ink the Wallpaper stamp(one of my new favorites for Halloween scenes) and embossed it with clear embossing powder. It may not sparkle, but it absolutely shines! I recently bought these little vails and so perfect for this theme. I printed out these awesome labels, and stuck them on the bottles. With double sided tape I adhered the vails to the card.






Finally it was time for some sparkle and die cut come beautiful flowers with the Tattered Flower Garland die. To add some sparkle it put some stickles in them! But that was not enough, so I took my only Halloween stamp and stamped with Versamark on black cardstock and brushed some Perfect Pearls Pewter on it.

Metallic Halloween

Hi everyone,

 

Today I finally had time for the new Compendium of Curiosities Challenge. This time Blended Stains was the chosen technique. This technique can be found on page 45 of the book. Simon Says Stamp is the generous sponsor of this week!

I haven't got the time to play with the new metallic Distress Stains, and today it finally happened. I did the technique with all the three metallic Stains. My spider is a bit fury. I used sticky embossing powder, but that did not work out so well is I wanted to. Need more practice!

Tape it up!

Hi everyone,

It's Monday again, and Simon Says Stamp and Show is back  with a new challenge. This week we gonna tape things up! I just started with collecting washi tape, like everybody else..., and this is a great opportunity to get use some.


Recently I received a memo pad as a gift with an order and I was very happy with it because I always write everything on little notes. So I can't have enough of memo pads. Only I did not like the look of the box. What a great reason to alter it! Out came the gesso to prime the box. I let it dry for a bit. Then it was time to plat with my favorite colors of paint. And there is no surprise there, I really love my blue and green paints. To tone the bright colors down a bit I watered some gesso and gave it coat of white wash. I blotted some of it off with a crumpled up tissue to get some texture to the box. I kept it really simple with the washi tape. I like the look of it. I wanted to leave the washi tape roll hanging like you see on displays or canvasses, but figured that that wasn't practical at all.

Giveway!! Blogoversary: Made by Sannie first birthday!

Hi everyone,

Super fun news! Today Made by Sannie turned 1! I only start papercrafting since then. Can't believe it's only been a year! Although time flies, I've learned so much that it seems much longer! LOL!

12 tags of 2012 - September

Hi everyone,

Just can not help it, but I'm totally in awe with Halloween. The September tag of the 12 tags of 2012 by Tim Holtz also got a Halloween make-over. Tim Holtz has made a beautiful September tag ​​and it was super fun to use the techniques.



I chose to not use a steel sponge to scrub the alcohol ink off. I wanted to keep the background dark and mysterious. The effect of the metal is now a lot less then on Tim's tag, but I do not mind. Of course my favorite skull had to make an appearance! I made them so they'll exactly fit behind the filmstrip. In the vails, I put a drop of Dusty Concord reinker and diluted with water. To ensure that the cork wouldn't come off, I have adhered it with Multi Medium.

When the Dark Knight Rises

Hi everyone,

A new Monday has arrived and Simon Says Stamp and Show has a new challenge for us! But first  I just wanna say that I really had fun with the blog hop! Thank you so much for all of you who took part at it and left a lovely comment! I also wanna thank Simon Says Stamp for this amazing adventure and gratulate them again with their 10th anniversary! Okay, back to business, the challenge of this week is Heroes. It can be superheroes, your personal hero, your favorite Hero Arts Stamp. Let your creative juices flowing! I'm a real movie fanatic and I've chosen the latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises as my inspiration.


This was a great oppertunity to use a canvas. It took a while before I got really into it, but soon I got the hang of it a bit. The first layer I made by applying paint with bubble wrap, and built more layers from that. I had so much fun decorating the canvas. I used lots and lots of Multi Medium to stick everything down. Especially the ball chain was difficult to stick to the canvas, but I did it! The logo, the bat, I found it as regular image in the internet and traced it with Silhouette Studio, and cut out with my Silhouette Cameo. The same I did with the letters.
What I love about working with a canvas is that it is so forgiving. If something went wrong, just add a new coat of paint or gesso over it, and start over. Awesome!

Enameled wallpaper

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I had a very fun crafting evening at my BFF Lein's house. Ellen, Lein and me have been very creative. We were all busy with very different projects. I had two projects on my to create list and this is one of them.

I'm totally in Halloween mode and despite I only have one Halloween stamp, I manage to make all kinds of different Halloween inspired projects. This tag I made for Compendium of Curiosities Challenge and we were asked to visit page 44 of the book for this challenge. I happen to have the stamp that Tim uses in his example and I think it's perfect for Halloween. The Wallpaper stamp is also super for a haunted mansion interior theme.



The chair, table and spider I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.First I used stickles to cover the spider and let it dry overnight. Pity the stickles don't with as much dimension as when you put it on. So for dimension I used Glossy Accents, but it didn't dry clear. It still has that milky sheen. Ahh well.  I recently bought some googly eyes and they fit perfectly on the skull. Hilarious! LOL

Outdoor Kraft Resist

Hi everyone,

Linda has extended last challenge from the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge with one week, and we are welcome to enter another piece. So why not? A very good reason is that Mario has sent a surprise package to Linda to give away to a lucky winner!
Today Frilly and Funkie also a have new challenge up for play. The theme for this challenge is outdoors/nature and a sentiment that goes with it.

Butterflies are such beautiful creatures. Their lifecycle is amazing and I just love the beautiful colors and shapes of their wings. Simply stunning! Fortunately there was a gorgeous sheet in the Kraft Resist Paper Pad by Tim Holtz  with beautiful butterflies and moths. I used some Picket Fence Distress Stain on the background yet again, so that the bright colors will stay in tact when I apply them to the Kraft paper. I wanted to let the butterflies as they are and I created some masks for them to cover them up. With some Distress Inks I made a background and started working with some stencils. Finally I used a few stamps for some texture and then looked for a nice sentiment. I found a nice one very quickly. Printed it out and distressed it. Of course my favorite wooden butterflies had to be on here!

Part of the enticement of rubber stamping is that stamps can be used in creating or complementing ANYTHING! From stamping dates on bank documents and postage parcels in the early 18th century, rubber stamping has dramatically expanded to include card making, scrapbooking, mixed media and many forms of altering and expressing art.

I'm celebrating STAMPtember ™ with this handmade tag.



It's hard to believe it's already September, or I should say STAMPtember ™! This weeks challenge is Read All About it! A while back I saw this article in our local newspaper with a story about a fellow named Toon Hein. It was about when he lived in our house during WOII. It's amazing to learn more about the history of our house. This artical was perfect for this weeks challenge!



To get the article on the tag I did the image transfer technique. I scanned the article in and mirrored it. Then I printed it out with my Laser printer. An inkjet printer will not do... To prepare the tag I used some distress ink to age it up and because distress inks react with water I put some MicroGlaze on the front and the back of the tag to make it water resistant.  May has shown this technique in a video tutorial a while back. The letters are cut out of Kraft Core paper with my Silhouette Cameo. And sanded the edges to give them a weathered look. To adhere them I used the Xyron Sticker maker, to make them into little stickers.
