Throwback Halloween ATC's

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Throwback: Be inspired by any previous Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!

Looking back at the long list of challenges we've had over the years can be super inspiring. So this week we challenge you to pick up an older challenge of ours, maybe one you didn't have time for yet, and get inspired! Be sure to tell us which challenge your were inspired by in your entry. Want some fresh ideas? Check out what our team has come up with!

What a great idea to look back again what we have done over the years for Simon Says Stamp Challenge Monday, and our prior, the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge. When I went through all of these challenges, I saw the tag I made for Paint it up in August 2012. I hadn't used that dry brush technique for a long time and would like to apply it for these Halloween ATC's.

This technique I learned in a workshop from Andy Skinner. I started with a sheet of Neenah Solar White cardstock. To apply texture to the background I've cut up a lot of strips and pieces in various sizes. For more texture I cut out the Anique, Deluxe and Mini gears, along with the Haunted Webs.

Completely painting everything black is the hardest part. Because it has so many nooks and crannies where the paint doesn't come easily. Everytime it was dry I saw a speck of white here and there. But I finally found all the white spots, I believe. If you have already painted everything black and even started with the dry brush technique, you can always add more elements. So if you thing it's a bit plain or you have more elements you forgot to add, it's always possible! Just paint it black and then repeat the dry brush steps again.

Yes, I know, the Undertaker again, but this time the mini version! It's such a cool stamp set. And it works so well with the googly eyes. I noticed that the new remnant rubs Curiosities don't work so well on the painted surface. They wouldn't stick to it. Last year's Apothercary remnant rubs worked perfectly. And these also have a white sheet, perfect on a dark ground like this.

12 tags of 2015 - October

Hi everyone,

The 12 tags are always fun to do, but the month of October with a Halloween tag, that really makes me extra happy! Tim has made for the 12 tags or 2015 - October a masterful tag with his new monster masks. These are so cool, but I'm using the Undertaker for my tag.

For the background, I first created a pattern with most of the Undertaker label and text stamps and I masked the small stamps off. With Spiced Marmalade, Rusty Hinge and Ground Espresso Distress Ink I've colored background.

I absolutely love love love the new Undertaker stamp set and so far I've been using this stamp set for all my Halloween projects. And the bigUndertaker is well suited to make it 3D. I stamped the Undertaker three times, and cut out the hat, as the top layer. For the second layer I've cut out the whole Undertaker minus a part of his right jaw. Also cut out the eye sockets, his nose and parts of his jaw cut. The final layer is completely cut out as a whole.

I'm also entering at Frilly & Funkie with this tag.

Halloween Monster Mash

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Monster Mash.

Whether you're loving Tim's new monster die cuts or having a monster (big) project to take on, have some zombie stamps or want to create your own stitched up (Frankenstein?!) of a project. This week we're taking on a Monster of a theme...

There is no greater Monster mash as Halloween! When I gathered all my Halloween stuff I saw I had the Halloween Background embossingfolder. That inspired me for the background of this card. I almost never use embossing folders lately. Before I embossed the background I did some random stamping. After I had embossed I used Seedless Preserves the color it. I didn't like the color and I didn't get the effect I wanted. So I took Crushed Grapes and after some sprays I was happy! After it was dry, I went over the embossed parts with the Black Soot Distress Ink Pad. So pretty!

The new Tim Halloween stamps are really amazing! I love the Undertaker. I think he got a little bit too scary when I colored him with Distress Markers and gave him rotten teeth. So fun what the effect of googly eyes can do. It immediately gave him a personality.

When I was looking for some rhinestones I came across some pink feathers which I bought when I was still making handbags. I love the Haunted Webs from Memory Box. So cool and detailed. Perfect for in the background.

Wonderful Halloween Watercolor with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Wonderful Watercolor.

From using Distress Inks to blend to watercolor markers, spray inks like Dylusions to a field watercolor set, and Prima Pencils to Gelatos - watercolor and watercolor like effects are everywhere these days! This week we encourage you to be inspired by watercolors (faux or the real deal), products, the beautiful heavy weight watercolor paper, or a technique involving water and get creative!
It's Halloween this month and I've rummaged my Halloween stuff for a watercolor card. Halloween is my favorite crafting season! I know I said this a million times before, but I think it would be so cool if we celebrated it here in the Netherlands too. I haven't seen any changes in my neighborhood about celebrating Halloween the last few years. Who knows, it may happen in the future. Can't wait!

Love making time lapse video's. Warning: the music for this one is slightly rougher, just to get more in the Halloween mood. LOL!

Autumn art journal spread with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Autumn in the air. Autumn has begun and so has a new season, one that is full of beautiful colors, celebrations such as Thanksgiving and Halloween. Be inspired by the fall.

It's a while since I've made an art journal spread, and wanted to make one to celebrate autumn. For me fall means a season filled with beautiful warm colors. Since we are only at the beginning, I wanted to have a touch of green in it too.

See below the timelapse video how I made this art journal spread.
