Enjoy the Ride card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Take Me For A Ride".

For this challenge I was inspired by a hot air balloon ride, and I started with a collage of Botanical Collage Paper, old book paper, tissue paper and washi tape. I glued all this down with Soft Matte Gel, which is really incredible for collaging. When the gel was dry I first applied a layer of White Gesso and then a layer of Clear Gesso. The Clear Gesso isn't necessary, but I think that Clear Gesso gives a nicer finish than White Gesso.

Shooting for the Stars card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Shoot for the Stars".

When I think of stars at the end of June early July, I think of the American 4th of July celebration. And I was inspired by those colors and so I used red and blue for my card. I started collaging the background and used Collage Paper Typeset, Washi Tape, old book paper and scraps of pattern paper. The adhesive I used for collaging is Soft Matte Gel. I put it in a smaller jar so that I can use it more easily.

After the collaging was finished, I applied a layer of White Gesso, to tone down the colors and then a layer of Clear Gesso. I think Clear Gesso has a nicer finish. When the gesso was dry, I started applying color. I started with Liquid Acrylic Deep Turquoise and mixed Infusions In The Navy through it. In the other corner I used Liquid Acrylic Carmine, this is a very orange red, and mixed it with Infusions Frankly Scarlet and Nuvo Shimmer Poweder Catherine Wheel.
For the Paper Doll I used the VersaMarker together with Distress Embossing Glaze Fired Brick and Weathered Wood.

Sprayed Background card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Sprays and Splashes".

Thanks to Tim Holtz's Facebook lives, I've used my sprays more often lately, but I still find it difficult to use sprays. I used Distress Oxide and Distress Spray Stains this time. I started with a little water, so that the sprays blend nicely and the Distress Oxide Spray reacts immediately. I applied 2 layers of spray.

The Brothers card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "It's a Man Thing".

For this week, I was still captivated by Tim Holtz's Facebook Live about the Distress Paints from last week, as well as Distress Weathered Wood, the color that I rediscovered due to the lack of the new Distress color. I started with Collage Paper Typeset and some scraps from old book paper to pattern paper and other tissue paper. I applied this with Soft Matte Gel. This is for me the best glue for collaging and adhering other things, it's really very versatile.

After a coat of White and Clear Gesso, I applied some texture with Texture Paste and the Crate stencil. When it was dry, it was time to apply color. I only used two colors for the background, black and Weathered Wood Distress Paint. By using a light and a dark color, you get a lot of variations in between. I rarely use extreme almost opposite colors, and never liked light colors, but have completely changed my mind.
I colored the brothers with Distress Crayon Antique Linen and Stormy Sky, and Tattered Rose Distress Marker. Such a shame that these Distress Markers are discontinued.
