Get well soon card

Hi everyone,

Monday has a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge in store, one without rules! It's anything goes this week!

One of my colleague has had a serious operation and I made a card for him to wish him a speedy recovery. I like to make a masculine card but with a few feminine touches. The background I made with the Simon Says Stamp Bubbles Stencil and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. The stencil I used as a stamp. I used the stencil as a masks to make the background slightly darker.

The number stamp from Kaisercraft I stamped with Archival Jet Black Ink and realized I wanted to have it stand out more and have therefore used Clear Embossing Powder on top of it. As the ink was drying it didn't stick everywhere. That gives it a more textured effect. Love that!

As usual I needed some washi tape! And this time I remembered to use my Zigzag Punch with in this case Vellum! I love this punch, and I need to remind myself to use it more often. And the jute bow was essential too. I glued it with a tiny drop of Tacky Glue. This ensures that it remains in place.

The letters are from Cork Adhesive and colored the edges with Black Soot Distress Marker. Then I also have this them a glitter coat with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. You don't see it very well in the picture.

Since I have a lot of colleagues (over 30) and everyone also wanted to wish him a speedy recovery, I've made sheets out of kraft wrapping paper. A simple solution and also very convenient. If I had to make more sheets that wouldn't been a problem. But 8 sheets were sufficient in this case.

12 tags of 2015 - April

Hi everyone,

Finally, it's last minute work with Tim's 12 tags. The month April has a full week to go and I finished my tag already. Yes! The tags Tim made are gorgeous! Really amazing! I'm glad I'm getting more out of my Distress Markers. This Spritzer technique is really cool, and so is the water coloring.

I don't have those beautiful floral stamps from Tim, but I do have other very nice floral stamps from Simon Says Stamp that are a bit in the same style. I chose bright cheerful colors to color the flowers with.

Unfortunately I don't have the dies that Tim has used, but I do have the Thinlet Alphabet, and have them neatly aligned so that it looks like I've had that word die :). The word "fabulous" I cut with my Silhouette Cameo. Yesterday I told a colleague of mine that I almost never use it, so today I dusted of the dust it had collected (not joking) and put it to work.

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Sandra

Weekplanner

Hi everyone,

It's Monday again and this week the Simon Says Monday Challenge blog has a new theme for you, and it's called "Due Date." What important things are there on your to do list, maybe you can pimp a calendar, or create something to keep track of your appointments and due dates. Share it with us!

I'm always looking for ways to be and stay organized. Have devoted several projects to it. I always try them out for a while, but I actually always go back to a piece of paper to write my things to do on. That doesn't stop me to constantly search for and try something new. I've created for this challenge a weekly planner, with each day of the week a little card. These cards have magnetic material on the back and so has the foam board standard. So I can easily pick up the card, adjust it if I want and when the day is over it goes back at the and and all the other cards moved a spot. This way I always have a overview of the week.

The cards I made by first making the background with Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistacio Distress Ink and then I used different stencils with Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistacio Distress Stain Spray. I don't often use the same color in the background to create a monochromatic look, now I have seen the result, I don't really understand why. It's a great effect! Something for my creative inspiration list.

The activities also include magnetic material and can picked up and placed onto another day, if needed. I'm curious if this planner is going to help me get rid off the little notes. Time will tell!

Being in the middle

Hi everyone,

A new Monday brings a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week's theme is: "In the middle". Indeed, it's the middle of the month, but not yet the middle of the year. Where are we also in the middle of? Be inspired by being in the middle of things, time etc...

I immediately knew which stamp I wanted to use for this challenge! I now had a reason to buy it, the Botanical Sketch of Tim Holtz. What an awesome stamp that is. And perfect for this challenge because there is an opening in the middle of it.

Actually I use white embossing powder only with sentiments and wanted to use it for this large intricate stamp. With a water brush and different  Distress Markers I colored the whole stamp. It's a bit easier to color in the small areas because of the edges created by the embossing powder. I chose to give it a soft Spring look.

Artsy Amethyst Anna card

Hi everyone,

It's time for a new Simon Says Monday Challenge and this week the letter A is the letter to play with. A is for ... art journal, April, apples, America, etc. We are very curious to see how the letter A inspires you this week!

When I saw the new stamps Anna Dabrowska aka Finnabair designed for Prima Marketing I knew it wanted to make an artsy amethyst Anna card. Well, I knew I wanted to use the Anna stamp, and as the card progressed it got arsty and got the beautiful sort of amethyst color.

Actually, I was experimenting with the Anna stamp and when I was playing with the sprays (Bubblegum Pink, Vibrant Turquiose and Crushed Grape), I didn't masked off the stamp. Oops, that was very dark and not what I wanted .... What now? Throw it away or continue anyway? I think it's always a challenge when you are just starting with a project and it isn't as pretty and nothing like you expected, to go on until it becomes something beautiful. And when that happens, I'm even more happy and pleased with the result.

Since I had nothing masked the stamp, I had to bring some dimension to Anna. Lifting the color using water didn't do alot and I had to think of something else. That gave me the idea to use White Linen Dylusion using a water brush. With it I made some parts brighter to get more depth. Love the effect!
