A Gentlemen card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about a Gentleman caller. It's a masculine themed challenge.

Because of the theme I used dark blue as the main color of the card. I think it works for a masculine vibe. It's the first time I've worked with Brusho powder. Such cool stuff. The pigment powder is extremely colorful, and it gets messy very quickly. But that shouldn't spoil the fun.

To see the process from start to finish, watch the time-lapse video below.

12 tags of 2015 - November

Hi everyone,

Yep, I did it again, waited till almost the last day with the November tag from the 12 tags of 2015. Tim has made yet another awesome tag. I like the background technique, it's really cool. But the golden edges are absolutely my favorite.

My tag isn't inspired by Autumn. Especially since I don't have a good autumn stamp that I can color in. So I've grabbed the time traveler's set.

For coloring I used no water color paper, but normal cardstock. I've coated it with Multimedium Matt so I can color and blend easily. The only downside of this method is that you can't really build up the color. It makes it a bit more difficult, but that's okay.

The letters Traveler on the black background with the golden edges, reminds me of a comic book logo. As if the Time Traveler is a comic hero. That might very well be true.

Giving thanks tag with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This time it's all about Giving thanks! This is a TWO WEEK long challenge! So you can enjoy the holiday!

With all what's going on in the world, like last Friday in Paris (my heart's go out to all of those who are affected), it's so important to be grateful for so many things in our lives. I think it's such a great tradition of Americans that they have a day proclaimed to express what you are grateful for. I know the herritage of this holiday, and I love that it's developed into this beautiful day.

For this tag, I was inspired by autumn, the beautiful warm colors, the leaves and so many more things. I started with making a woody background using Antique Linen Distress Paint and Wood stamp. To give it the warm brown color of wood I used Walnut Stain and Ground Espresso. It's almost magical when you go over it with a baby wipe and the wood grain appear.

While making the leaves I almost felt like a child again who was finger painting. Actually, that's exactly what I did. With the use of my fingers, I have a little more control over the blending the colors.

Navy art journal spread with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about creating something beginning with the letter N. Let's get inspired by products, color, techniques or brands beginning with N.

This time I want to work with navy blue in my art journal, I'm more a turquoise and aqua blue kinda gal. But I immediately thought of the color navy blue for the letter N challenge. It's always a fun challenge to pick a color that I rarely use.

First I started to apply a coat of Gesso since it's perfect to work on with water-based inks, like Distress. I then made with washi tape (which didn't stick so well to the gesso) strokes to color them in. The ink leaked under the tape. But actually it gave a pretty nice effect. Then I went with a black watercolor pencil but that was to intense and not I wanted. And because of the Gesso I could fix this easily. Another effect of the gesso, you can also make beautiful drip stains.

Below the time-lapse video from beginning to end of this art journal spread. UPDATE: I've uploaded the video again, something went wrong with the music.

So Glossy Card

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about creating something: So Glossy.

Gloss gel medium and a stencil is one of my all time favorite combos. Ah, but that isn't all that shines here in my studio! From glossy accents to clear embossing powder, gloss cardstock to shiny domed embellishments there is a lot of gloss power around here. This week we encourage you to find some glossy product and let it inspire your ceration.

I crazy about the transparent texture paste. Inspired by Tim's tag of September 2015 I made this card for my sister's birthday. I had a left over piece saved from when I was doing the background for the September tag. Love that I've used it as a background for this card.

Since the theme is glossy, I've used as many glossy materials as possible. Starting with the Glossy paper. Then I went in with the Gloss Texture Paste and the Honeycomb stencil to create texture and of course gloss.

A transparent sheet is super glossy. So I stamped on that with StazOn and the circle of the Trust the magic stamp set. The Happy Birthday of the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Balloons stamp set. I used embossing powder to create more gloss.
