Party Invite with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! The next two weeks it's all about "Party Time".

Every year around this time I send out invitations for my birthday. So this party theme fits perfectly. I started with Heavystock and 3 different colors Infusions, Blackcurrant, Slime and Green Man. While the paper was still wet from the water, I used some extra Infusions and immediately stamped the Papillon background stamp and used it as ink on the part of the paper without Infusions. This gives it a very nice colorful watercolor effect.

Stitch it Up Birthday card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Stitch it Up".

I was in the mood to make a black, white and gold birthday card. I started with a few washi tape. I can't live without my washi tape;). Then I stamped the Mixed Media Strips stamps above and below the tape. But also with the Checkered and the Read to Me stamp with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink.

Merry December card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Warm Winter Wishes".

Christmas is getting closer and I still haven't got all my Christmas cards ready. I was in the mood for a green Christmas card. I grabbed some Christmas green with gray Distress Inks and got started. I went for an old technique called the "Wrinkle Free Distress" with Pine Needles, Iced Spruce, Evergreen Bough and Hickory Smoke. My paper was certainly not wrinkle free after that... So I ran it through the Vagabond with a few sheets of paper and that really helps with the wrinkles.

Blue Butterfly Brutus Birthday card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! 'B is for...' is this weeks challenge. We're also showcasing Brutus Monroe Products.

Actually it's time for making Christmas cards, and I'm behind with those, but there are also need birthday cards to be made. This week I made a Blue Butterfly Brutus Birthday card. I started with the Brutus Butterfly Garden Paper Pad. It's not actually a Pad, it's a Paper Pack. I already thought that this could possibly be used with a laminating machine (or a Minc) because it looked like it had been printed black with toner, and that was the case. I used blue foil to make the black butterflies blue ones.

Steampunk Birthday card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Gift it".

This week I was in the mood for a bit of steampunk, but with a twist. I started with the Mechanics 3D Embossing Folder and gave it a metallic effect with Nuvo Mousse Seaspray Green and Black Ash by applying it with a blending tool. Then a more rusty brown tint mixed in by using Metallique Wax Bronze Age. What does that wax smell nice!

Thanks card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Thanks/Thanksgiving".

The month of Thanksgiving has arrived, even though it is mainly celebrated in the US, think about what you are grateful for is a beautiful thought. I made a thanks card and I started by applying Crackle Texture Paste with the Spaced Dots stencil. After the Crackle Paste was dry I applied a layer of Opal Magic Green-Gold Paint.

Take Flight Halloween card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Take Flight".

Halloween is almost here, it's now only a few days away! So time for the last Halloween card of the season. As the flying part of my card I used the Batground stencil. But I first started making the background. I used Distress Oxide Fired Brick with Distress Oxide and Ink Black Soot to make the background look like a dark creepy night. A night full of creepiness.

Happy Devilish Halloween card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Halloween/Spooky".

Because of all my Halloween cards of the last time I had no more spooky inspiration, but fortunately with the help of teammie Marzena (thanks!) I got back my mojo and I managed to make a Halloween card yet again. And it is my favorite so far! I started to make texture with the Mixed Media set and over it I used the Halloween Collage paper. This paper is very fragile and so I've applied a coat of Clear Gesso over it. To give it even more texture, I applied Grit-Paste around the edges. With Distress Oxide Black Soot, Infusions Black Knight and Nuvo Shimmer Storm Cloud I applied a first layer with "color". Then another layer with Infusions Black Knight and Perfect Pearls Forever Red.

Spooky Starry Night Halloween card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Starry Nights".

Oh yes,  this card is also in Halloween style... Hope you're not tired of my Halloween projects ;). This time it's the view from within a haunted mansion looking outside at the starry night. For the wallpaper I used a sheet from the Halloween Paper Stash. And the window is made with the Window and Window Box die. I stamped it with the Woodgrain stamp with Versamark and used it with Black Embossing Powder. To give it color I used Distress Oxide Ground Espresso.

Cityscape at Night Halloween card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Cityscape".

This month is Halloween all the way for me. So I went for a cityscape Halloween style at night time. I started using a page from an old Dutch book and glued it with Collage Medium on a piece of Neenah cardstock. As a top layer I used Clear Gesso. This is really amazing stuff, it's almost impossible to notice that there is a layer  of Gesso on it. The effect on a layer of Clear Gesso with Distress Ink is almost the same as Distress Oxide, it gives it a chalky look. The only difference is that Oxide has Pigment and therefore has a covering property.

Just a Note card

Hi everyone,

Playing along with another Frilly and Funkie that's called "Just My Type".
The rules for this challenge are: create a vintage or shabby chic project and include a typewriter, typewriter keys, typeface.

I love the look of old vintage typewriters, but never used it as inspiration for a project. So I had lots of fun to do so this time. I used the typewriter from the Purveyor stamp set and colored it with a water brush and Distress Ink. I cut out a simple rectangle frame and covered it with Grit-Paste. Painted it black and went over it with Bronze Age Metallique Wax.

This month is the month of Halloween, so I had to make a Halloween tag. I started making a collage background using Collage Medium. I applied Distress Crayon Black Soot on all the edges. To bring everything to the background, I used Black Knight Infusions.

Monochrome Halloween card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Monochrome".

A little more than a month and then it's Halloween. Too bad we don't celebrate it in the Netherlands, but that doesn't stop me from making Halloween cards... I like that darkness of it. I started to apply a piece of Collage Paper Halloween with Collage Medium. I immediately wrinkled it while it was still wet to create texture, but it could use a little more texture and for that I applied Grit-Paste around the edges. When it was dry I made it darker with Gunmetal paint.

To make it even darker I used Infusions Black Knight. This works very nicely with the Grit-Paste. Especially using Metallique wax on top of the texture makes the Grit-Paste look fabulous. I used the pluses of the Mixed Media 6 die set and gave them a metal look with Nuvo Mousses. These dry out very quickly in their packaging. I use them regularly. Don't know why this is happening ....

I first painted the Drip Drop Edged die set with Brused Pewter, but wanted to make it stand out even more. So I applied a layer of Black Soot over it. Then I went of it with an Embossing Dabber and Bonding Powder and Fab Foil. But the foil doesn't  work so well in all places. I don't know if it is the foil, because this was the first time I used this brand, or that it was because of all layers of paint and the royal applied Embossing Dabber. I'll experiment with it again another day. I cut the Happy Halloween from black vinyl with my Silhouette Cameo and adhered it on a transparent sheet, that I attached with the Tiny Attacher to the card. If you don't have a digital cutting machine but you do have a laser printer, you can print on the transparent sheet and achieve the same effect.
