Alcohol Ink Happy card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Focus on Alcohol Inks".

Although I do have quite a few Alchohol Inks, I rarely use them because I find them difficult to use, even after watching the Tim Holtz demos. This is also my second attempt, since the first one failed... Of course... I started on Yupo with alcohol, then I added Alcohol Inks Sephia, Aquamarine, Pool and Mineral. I don't like the thick dark edges that pool around the alcohol inks, the thinner ones where you can still see the color of the ink I really do like. But I struggle to get those. In the end I have almost no edges at all, almost everything is blended really softly together.

With Alcohol Lift Ink I did some more stamping in the background. In the past I had some problems with this technique, but it is getting better now that I know that I have to wait a little bit after I stamp before dabbing the alcohol ink off with a tissue.
Distress Crayons work very nice on Yupo, they blend beautifully. I gave the gears a metallic shimmer with Metallique waxes, White Gold, Bronze Age and Firebird. I noticed that the waxes also work very nicely on Yupo, so applied some wax in several places to add some shimmer.

Celebrate card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Food/Drinks".

For this challenge I first looked up all the inks and other media with food or drink in the name and then chose a color palette. Most of it was Distress Inks, so that was my main medium. And started with that too. Along with Infusions Olive Tree. This immediately gives a completely different effect than working with Distress Inks alone. After I had built up enough layers with the Distress Inks, I darkened the edges, this time only with Ink and not Distress Crayons.

To add some more coffee stains, I used the Splatters stencil with Distress Ink Ground Espresso (how appropriate) and used Distress Embossing Glaze Walnut Stain to make it look like it was still wet.
