Mason Jar Flowers

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and it brings a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge along with it. This week, team mate Michelle wanted to see on our homegrown summer inspired projects. So let's show it to her.

As childern my siblings and I had our own part of the garden that we were allowed to maintain. We were free to decide what we wanted to grow there. I tried to grow vegetables (I failed, I don't have a green thumb), but also poppies, sunflowers and other wild flowers. The wild flowers were easy to grow ... Not only from my own garden, but also where ever I could find other beautiful wild flowers I picked them for my mother. She loved them and put them in a jar or a vase.

This was my inspiration for my card. First I stamped the jar and flowers. I masked off the jar with masking tape and flowers with Liquid Frisket. I also masked off the top and bottom of the card. After the liquid masking was dry I started with the background. I've inked the Petites Floral Stencil with Squeezed Lemonade and Shabby Shutters and stamped with the inkup stencil like a stamp.

After I've made several layers, such as the Typo stencil with Broken China and stamping what the Messy stamp, it was time to take all the masking off. The flowers I colored in with Distress Markers and left a white border around the edges. And the jar I gave a shade and a bit of blue glow hoping it gives it the illusion that there is water inside. To make the jar shinny like it's made from glass, I've applied a thick layer of Glossy Accents.

Despite the card was inspired by picking flowers for my mother, it was created for a male colleague. To still give a little masculinity I've adhered two male Potty People.

Beautiful! I am loving the repeat of the mason jar in the DT creativity this week. What I really enjoy is how grand it is in relation to the size of the people :)
