Tag with a Twist of Citron

Hi everyone,

This Monday and it's time for a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week's challenge: "Citrus with a twist." Based on Twisted Citron Tim Holtz Distress Ink color:
Twisted Citron has me thinking about all things citrus, neon and fresh! This week from oranges to bright fresh color we want to see how you'll use citrus ... with your own twist.

I wanted to play with Twisted Citron for this tag. I really like this color and it's a great addition to the existing palette. I didn't only play with Twisted Citron, I used Hickory Smoke and Mermaid Lagoon too of the new 2015 colors. Amazing how well these go and blend together.

After the background, I made with Black Marble my trusty splashes. And this time I chose a different background stamp, Numbers of Kaisercraft. Since the tag was a bit dark, I wanted to add some lighter color. I mixed a little Twisted Citron with some Crackle Paste and used the Mini Brick stencil. I applied a medium layer, so I got nice crackle on this bricks. When the crackle was dry, I applied Walnut Stain Distress Ink with Ink Blending Tool, to accentuate the crackle effect. The ink stains it.

Beautiful! The way the eye is drawn to the citron because of the darker beautiful hues of blue is gorgeous.

I love the seeming simplicity of your tag. When you look a bit deeper, you discover some wonderful elements like the textured bricks. It's great!

Really great work on this piece! I thought it was so clever of you to sort of reverse the colors so that the bricks are white and the mortar is colored as opposed to doing it the other way. So clever and this color palette is gorgeous!
