12 tags of 2015 - December

Hi everyone,

It's time for the last tag of December 2015. Tim has made another super beautiful tag. It's such a fun challenge to make a Tim tag every month. I hope he continues this in 2016!

The only thing I had that he uses the flourish stencil and Ground Espresso. For all the other products I used alternatives. Like the Postbox Red spray. Wow, what a super super super colorful red that is. As a focal point, I've use the Woodland die. To give it some extra dimension I cut a second out and cut it into pieces and adhered it on the back of the tree. To give it more the fullness as the wreath Tim made.

I don't have the bow die, but I drew the bow shape roughly and cut it out with scissors. I printed the banner. That font is so cool!

Winter Wonderland with a little Village Dwelling

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! It's all about Winter Wonderland this time. The holidays are a just a few days away. It's a two week long challenge!

Are you also in awe of the Village Dwellings die cutting sets? Aren't they amazing? So glad that Tim has made videos about those, which I find much easier to follow then the instructions on paper that are included with the dies. I made this little house in the colors of my interior. Mint green, but sometimes it tends a bit to aqua blue, with warm gray and dark brown. So this sweet house will fit perfectly as a home decor piece for Christmas.

All the pieces I cut out of a sturdy Kraft Cardstock. The walls I painted gray by mixing Picket Fence and Black Soot to make it seem like cement. I wanted mint green stones, and I mixed Texture Sand with Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio to make that happen. I've used a brick stencil to apply the stones.

For the roof, I used Texture Crackle Paste and colored this brown with Walnut Stain and Mustard Seed, so I got a muddy brown. This I applied with the Stripes stencil to create the effect of a thatched roof. While the paste was still wet, I sprinkled some Rock Candy Dry Glitter. Unfortunately, the crackle effect doesn't come through the glitter. With Walnut Stain Spray I made the roof a bit darker.

I had put everything together, when I thought it wasn't wintery enough. So I cut out the snow elements of the Village Winter die. I had already installed the chimney and had to cut a hole in my roof snow element. To create the snow effect I used the Texture Sand again. It looks so much like real snow when it's dry.

You have my heart release at Simon Says Stamp

 http://simonsaysstamp.com/category/Shop-Simon-Releases-You-Have-My-HeartHi everyone,

Today Simon Says Stamp has new release called "You have my heart". It's a Valentine themed release. To see the whole release click here.

I've created this birthday tag in bright red. I used Festive Berries to do so. My camera doesn't want to pick up the true color, but I think you know how bright Festive Berries really is.  The Big U stamp set is from this new release. Don't you just love it? It's so versatile, and that is such a big plus.

Just a pinch of foil and Brusho card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about adding just a pinch to your project. What will you add? Share it with us at our challenge blog.

I thought of two pinches that I wanted to use for the birthday card I made. A pinch of foil and a pinch of Brusho powder. I noticed that not all Brusho colors have the same pigments in it. For example Prussian Blue consists mainly of blue tints pigment, but Grey, Black and Olive Green consists of many colors. That limits me in the use of these multi colored powders and techniques I can do. As long as you mix it with water before using it, you get the actual color.

For this time I've used a pinch of black and mixed it with water. With a brush, I applied it on the stamp and stamped it. With this technique, it's important to think about the water and pigment ratio. When you use as little water as possible in combination with the pigment, this will give you get a cleaner image definition. More water will get you a more watercolor effect.

In the video below you can see beyond the whole process from start to finish.

Holly Jolly Christmas card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's Holly Jolly Stamping. The Christmas season is around the corner, so we need to get those Christmas stamping done. If it's Christmas cards or maybe some Christmas Decor.

I always love to make Christmas cards for family and friends. Every year surprise them with a card that I made. The last few weeks I'm getting more and more drawn by the dark blue tones. I think it's such a beautiful color for the dark winter days.

This time I tried a different technique with the Brushos. I wanted it to stamp with it. With a little powder you can go a long way, and the amount of water determines how intense the color is. In the video below I show the whole process. Unfortunately, some parts were a bit off camera.

I applied some Prussian Blue Brusho to an acrylic block and with some water and a brush I mixed the color. With the brush I applied the color to the Tree Line stamp and stamp with it. It's just regular cardstock, no watercolor paper. I then mixed by the existing color with more water in order to make the color lighter and again apply the ink to the stamp with the brush to stamp the second layer of trees. I repeat this process for the third time for a few scattered trees.

The snowflakes are made with Texture Paste Transparent Gloss and Pale Silver Mica Powder. I mixed that together. With the Snowflakes stencil I applied it. And used a heat tool to make them bubble. If you let them air dry for a little while the bubbles will be smaller, if you heat it right after applying then the bubbles will be bigger.
