Monochrome Turquoise Tag with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Monochrome. Pick one color and make your project with that color.

My favorite color is turquoise, aqua, mint green. I'm aware that they are actually different colors, but very often it's a matter of interpretation which color is which and I love them all. I've therefore made a mix of these colors, as they are almost the same. In addition, I used a lot of black to apply contrast and shadow.

The first step was applying Vibrant Turquoise Dylusions Paint with a baby wipe to create my background. With Peacock Feathers and the Simon Says Stamp Diamond Circles stencil I added more depth to it.

The Trellis Framework (thanks Marzena!) die I've applied also with a layer Vibrant Turquoise Dylusions Paint, followed by a layer of Opal Magic Blue-Gold Alchemy Paint. While the paint was stil a bit wet I've also applied some Mint Perfect Pearlso give it even more shimmer.

The Layered Dragonfly (again, thanks Marzena!) also got a layer of Vibrant Turquoise Dylusions Paint. To accentuate the embossed portions I went over it with Jet Black Archival Ink. But to give it even more dimension and some shimmer, I've then given a layer of Opal Magic Blue-Gold Alchemy Paint and once again went over it with Jet Black Archival Ink.

12 tags of 2016 - May

Hi everyone,

It's time for the 12 tags 2016! It's May's turn. Tim has again made a stunning tag out with two techniques from previous years. The tissue tape resist technique of August 2014 and the tattered florals May 2015.
Tim is a master at making gorgeous tags with great techniques. This month is no exception. For my tag I had to experiment a bit with the colors. My first attempt wasn't very successful, the colors were to intense and even with some water I couldn't make it lighter. But my second attempt was much better. I love the colors.

The resist of the butterfly is slightly less, the tissue tape has still ink on it, but I think the soft resist is actually very beautiful.
Unfortunately, I don't have the tattered florals die, so I used the little butterflies from the Butterfly Frenzy die instead.

Boy and girl birthday cards with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about making a wish. We usually make a wish before blowing out the birthday candles, but you could create something with a wish in mind. We look forward to see what you create!

For me it's birthday season at the moment and therefor also birthday card making season. The theme of this week is an enormous help to me. That's why I made two cards this time. One for a birthday girl and one for a birthday boy.

I started with the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Frame die. I've cut off the bottom piece so that it became a standard frame instead of a polaroid frame. With different types of Washi tape I taped it in place. But before I did, I first cut down 2 Found Relatives cards to make them fit inside the frame. (It's also fun to fill them with pictures of the real birthday boy or girl.)

Both cards I made the same way. Only the colors are different and the girls card I've done more stamping with the Meadow Lark stamp set.

Felt that card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Felt that. Felt is very trendy at the moment and we wanna let you in with that trend. Simon Says Stamp has a whole collection Spring Plush dedicated to felt.

I started with the Simon Says Stamp Leaves Mask and Faded Jeans Distress Ink, to stamp with the mask. I love the effect it gets me, so pretty! Then I grabbed the Simon Says Stamp Leaves stencil and with a wet brush I went over the stamped parts with water. Sprinkled some Brusho powder on top and sprayed some more water over it and let the pigment do it's thing.

With Simon Says Stamp White Felt I cut the hugs with the Simon Says Stamp Big Hugs die. Amazing how these thin cutting dies cut through the felt so easily. As already mentioned in this post, Simon Says Stamp has a whole collection dedicated to felt: Spring Plush.
The butterflies I stamped on Heat Resistant Acetate with StazOn Jet Black ink, I didn't want to cover any more of the background.

Emboss it card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Embossing it! If you'll use embossing folder, heat embossing, embossing paste, or another way to emboss, we would like to see!

For this challenge I went for heat embossing. I absolutely love the Halftone & Rings stamp set from Tim Holtz, and have used it for the background of my card. First I stamped the Rings in Picked Raspberry and then the Halftone in Versamark with Black Embossing Powder. This gives it a bit of a pop-like style. That reminded me of graffiti and have therefore used the Bricks stamp the give it more of an urban vibe.

Pop art is actually lots more colorful, but I was more in the mood for a monochrome look. I'm so happy with my self carved chevron stamp, and use it all the time now. The balloons I've cut out with the Silhouette Cameo. I don't use that machine enough...

Prima Home Decor Canvas with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about Home decor.
This week we are creating something to decorate our homes. It could be a canvas, a wall hanging, a candle holder, coaster, whatever you like! We will be looking forward to seeing what you make!

We are showcasing PRIMA PRODUCTS this week. You don’t have to use them to join in, but if you have them we would love to see them used.

It's been ages since I made a canvas. And this challenge is perfect for making one. I started creating a background with the Prima Honeycomb stencil and Texture Paste mixed with Prima Opal Magic Alchemy paint. With Color Shine Tropical Teal and White I gave it even more color and some drippage.

With a number of Prima stamps: Checkered, Jagged Lines and Iron Orchid and some custom stamps, I've given the background a little more interest. With a bunch Vintage Sunrise Sunset Trinkets I've made a collage and painted it white with Gesso. Next I sprayed it with Tropical Teal and applied a layer of Opal Magic Alchemy paint after the spray was dry.

I've made the Chipboard pieces Prima The Archivist less bulky by removing lots of the chipboard. This way they are more integrated with the background. I then applied a layer of Opal Magic Alchemy paint over it.

For the whole proces from start to finish see the video below.
