Texture tag with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about adding some texture to your project.

For my texture tag I actually kept the texture quite to a minimal, I wanted the texture of the stencil  which I've embossed with to show through as much as possible. Embossing with stencils is something I've only done once before and I'm in love with the subtle look it gives. Tim explains in CC102 the order of how to emboss with stencils. I was stubborn, did detained the order, just switched the whole sandwich upside down, and then nothing happens. Quite strange... But from now on, I won't be so stubborn and will just follow the instructions... LOL!

To highlight the subtle embossing of the stencil, I've used different colors of Distress Ink. I've applied them with very light presssure, because the embossed parts needs to be darker dan de flat parts. I find that it works better if I apply multiple layers with Distress Ink.

Of course I also had to add some other texture to this tag, and so I used the Sunrise Sunset stencil with Texture Paste and Black Soot Distress Paint. This is my favorite way to add texture to my projects.

First of all, I just had to laugh about following (or not) the instructions on the stencil embossing sandwich. That's me. Been there ... Done That ... Bought the postcard. Next -- I love the tag -- gorgeous color and the subtle texture. But more than anything I really enjoyed the video. It's so amazing to see the creative process evolve. You just went where it took you. By the way, the use of white so changes the visual impact. Love it!! What a creative gift you have Sandra! -- Mary Elizabeth

Can't think of a better way to start a Monday than to visit and watch and listen (♥ Kensington). You have such a knack for using the most delicious colors and I see that mixing Black Soot with texture paste creates the most perfect soft (not blackish black) tint. Love what you've done here (as usual)--have a great week!

Perfect soft texture. It reminds me of the embossing with stencils which I did time ago and have to get back with this technique. I love the distress inking you did and the final touch of white pen! Hugs, Marzena
