Happy Summer Stencil card with video tutorial

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Stencil it".



It's finally summer and to celebrate that I made a happy summer card. First, I made an umbre effect  with Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide. Then I made some interest with the same colors and order using a stencil . What's strange is that the effect fades over time. If you look at the background now, the effect is almost faded away. No idea what caused it.

 

With VersaMark I've stamped the Joyful Garden stamp and applied it with black embossing powder and heated it. I've colored it with Oxide Inks and Reinkers. The Peeled Paint dries very lightly into a grayish tint, not sure why that happens. The center of the flowers I've given some color and dimension with enamels (Thanks Anita!). After everything was dry, I've added more interest with some stencils and Distress Oxide.

Let's Take a Vacation art journal with video tutorial

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Let's Take a Vacation".

As you probably know, I love city trips. Therefor, I've made a city trip inspired art journal spread. It turned out a bit on the dark side, so it's city trip at nightfall I started to cover the background with Terminology Tissue Wrap. After that I've applied different colors of  Infusions with Mod Podge mixedwith water. But I found that the Tissue Wrap was too over powering, so I applied a layer of Snowcap paint. Then I've re-appled with Mod Podge different Infusions to bring back the color.

 

Of course, bricks need to be in a city trip theme. So I used a Bricks stencil with Grit-Paste. Perfect for giving me some stone texture. Then added different colors of Infusions to blend them into the background. The Cityscape Skyline die can't be missing and so is a Globe. I first painted it all black and then painted the green parts of the world. Because there are plenty critters living in the city also, I've used the Bird Branch die and colored it with different colors of Distress Oxide.

Thoughts and Feelings notebook with video tutorial

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Touchy Feely".



This weeks theme can be interpreted in different ways. Like a project with a lot of (soft) texture that you would like to touch and feel. I've taken the liberty to rename this challenge into Thoughts and Feelings. I altered the cover of a standard notebook and made it into my Thoughts and Feelings notebook.
 

As the first step, I've used over 20 different washi tapes to make a pattern for the background. I wanted a colorful cover, so I've used four fun and bright paint colors: Vibrant Turquoise Dylusions Paint and Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry and Cracked Pistachio Distress Paint. Before that layer, I had another 4 color Opal Magic paints applied, but nothing of those paints are visible anymore.
 

Because it's gonna be used alot, I only wanted to work with permanent mediums, and therefore made the edges with Faber-Castell Big Brush black. That's also why I chose for paint for the background. Lastly, I've used up all the old rub ons that I've had for ages. To make sure that they stay in place I put a coat of Mod Podge over it.

Darkroom Door Masculine card with video tutorial

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Masculine". We're also showcasing Darkroom Door products, if you have any (it's not mandatory) we would like to see them used in your project.

For the Darkroom Door product, I used the Bold Arrows stamp. For the first layer of the background I've tried to create pattern with the MISTI. Then I've applied a layer of Opal Magic Green-Gold paint on top of it. With different Infusions I've given the background a little more color.

 

As a focal point, I stamped the Bold Arrows with Walnut Stain and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide. I cut them out and distressed the edges with Distress Crayon Black Soot. On the edges of Just Sayings  frame I've doodled with a White Gelly Roll pen.
