Blue Butterfly Brutus Birthday card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! 'B is for...' is this weeks challenge. We're also showcasing Brutus Monroe Products.

Actually it's time for making Christmas cards, and I'm behind with those, but there are also need birthday cards to be made. This week I made a Blue Butterfly Brutus Birthday card. I started with the Brutus Butterfly Garden Paper Pad. It's not actually a Pad, it's a Paper Pack. I already thought that this could possibly be used with a laminating machine (or a Minc) because it looked like it had been printed black with toner, and that was the case. I used blue foil to make the black butterflies blue ones.

With Distress Oxide Broken China and Peeled Paint I gave the background a first layer of color. But that is still a bit plain, and so I created more depth with Nuvo Shimmer Powders and Infusions. The edges could also use some definition and so I made them brown with Distress Ink Ground Espresso and then darkened them with Distress Crayon Black Soot. I wanted to use Dylusions Spray to add a bit more blue, but that didn't work as I expected, the ink sucked immediately into the paper. Too bad...

Wow, such a great idea to add the foil to the butterflies and what a atriking detail it makes! I absolutely love your style, it always stops me when it shows up in my feed. I really admire the way the paper doll sits on that black and white stripe strip. Thanks for sharing
