Red White Blue Shine Brightly card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Red/White/Blue".

Red and blue aren't colors that I often combine in a card, but at least once a year. And each time I like the result of adding only those two colors on a card.
I started with Script Ledger and Dapper stamp and the mini Distress Archival Ink Black Soot (so excited for the big pads). For texture I used Texture Paste with the Stars stencil.

When the Texture Paste was dry I used Distress Oxide Crackling Campfire and Faded Jeans, and to give more depth I used Infusions In The Navy and Terracotta. To temper the stains and apply a shimmer, I diluted Metallique Paint Stormy Ocean and Flame with water. That gives a very cool effect around the Texture Paste.

Specimen See Through card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "We Can See Clearly".

Not really a Father's Day card, but I made this one for that reason anyway. My father doesn't like dark colors, so I kept the card light. A while back I made a card with an acetate overlay and I really liked the effect, and it fits perfectly with this challenge. I started with the background and I used Distress Oxide Pumice Stone, Speckled Egg, Evergreen Bough and Ground Espresso to build up the colors. With Archival Ink Ground Espresso I stamped all over the card with the Ledger Script stamp.

The dark text of the Script Ledger stamp was a bit too dark and I mixed Texture Paste with Distress Paint Speckled Egg and used it with the Crate stencil. While the Texture Paste was drying I started with the acetate. I finally used my Specimen Stamp Set for that. I've had it for a while now, but couldn't find the right project for it. I reinked my stamp pad before stamping. That helps that you only have to stamp once and the stamp doesn't stick to the acetate. On the back of the acetate I colored the bug with Distress Paint Speckled Egg.
