It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Fun with Stencils".
Just in time I received the new Moon Masks for this stencil challenge. Yippie! And immediately I wanted to try the technique that Tim had done during his introduction demo of these masks, and what a super cool effect that gives. I'm totally in love with it.
First I used the smallest moon mask and I put some tape behind it to make sure it wouldn't shift, and then I started working with the sprays, Distress Oxide Spray Black Soot, Crushed Olive and Distress Spray Stain Peeled Paint. And of course I had to add a little shine with Nuvo Shimmer Powder Falling Leaves.
For the moon details, I used Distress Oxide Antique Linen and Hickory Smoke. I think those are perfect moon colors. For the stamps I used my all time favorite Halloween stamps, Mini Halloween #3. That owl is absolutely perfect in front of the moon, and the trick or treaters are just super fun and instantly making a completed scene. I added some texture with the Script stencil. I had a little trouble mixing the Texture Paste into a nice color. I've used all kinds of mediums, and it got a little too runny, but the messy look does have something to it and the sparkle from the Nuvo Sparkle Spray Apple Spritzer was worth it.
