12 tags of 2012 - December

Hi everyone,

Have you seen the two gorgeous tags that Tim has made for the last 12 tags of 2012? There are two because he started in February and he owed us one:). So happy with them, because they're so pretty. I'm late with creating them, and I had a lot of fun making them both! What a great techniques yet again! I'm so glad I had waited a while with making them, because my early Christmas present that I got from my BFF Lein, was the Christmas blueprint stampset and that is perfect for one of the tags. I've given them my own twist. And I'm very pleased with the results :).

Photos alert, lots of pictures below! Well... not a whole lot...

Christmas gift

Hi everyone,

It's almost Christmas time and it's not only time for Christmas cards and Christmas decorations, it is also time for Christmas gifts. The wrapping of the Christmas gifts is just as fun as all the rest of the creative christmas fun. From my super sweet BFF Lein I have already got my Christmas present! The amazing Christmas blueprint stamps! So I put them right at use on the wrapping paper. I got me some plain kraft wrapping paper at Ikea! A whole lot for little, perfect for my special Christmas gift. With this Christmas gift I participate with Frilly and Funkie where the challenge is, make it a tag. I also like to join in with Compendium of Curiosities, where the challenge is tissue tape. See for more info on page 36 of the book. And this week it's sponsored by the always generous Simon Says Stamp!

Snowflake Ornaments

Hi everyone,

In about a week it's Christmas, and that means that everyone is busy with lots of  preparations and last minute Christmas shopping. Hopefully you'll have some time to make some gifts, because this week's challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show is gift-spiration! Personally I find it so much fun to make decorations as a present. The new Snowflake Rosette by Tim Holtz makes stunning ornaments to hang in the christmas tree or hang anywhere else in the house. You can also use them to embellish your presents.

First of all I've cut some Neenah Solar White cardstock to size. I've inked it up with the different colors of green Distress Inks and did that on both sides. As an ornament, both sides need to be pretty.
Then I cut the rosettes out of the cardstock. The tear lines is very fragile, so I stuck a piece of tissue tape on one side.

For a bit more interest, I used some stamps. On the large rosette I decorated the edges with gold embossing powder.
Time to struggle to get the rosettes in their shape and gluing them. That's really the hardest part. I need some more practise with that.

To join in all you need to do is make a project that fits this weeks challenge and you can be the winner of the $50 gift voucher that our amazing sponsor Simon Says Stamp offers. This prize will go to a random entry. So go over to the Stamp and Show Challenge blog, let the DT members inspire you and join in the fun!

Wedding card

Hi everyone,

Today is such a beautiful date, 12/12/12, and the last in the serie. I think that all over the world many people did get married! Tonight I also have a wedding party of a colleague of mine and have made a card for them. Since it is a wedding card, I didn't grunge it up so much;). I'm still joining the Compedium or Curiosities Challenge where the challenge of this week is Paper Rosette. Which can be found on page 63.

Why can I take a great picture when the project is really dark, or when it's really light? Sigh!

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Time for a Christmas Tim Tag

Hi everyone,

I must admit I do miss the 12 tags of Christmas quite a bit. It's amazing that Tim now makes a tag for us every month, but the 12 tags of Christmas was such a happening and I liked it so much. It was my first year last year, and I want more! Well luckily we can, because this week's challenge of Simon Says Stamp and Show is to dive into the archive of his Christmas Tags and pick a tag that inspires you most. Mine is tag of day 1, 2009. The background is really amazing and the whole tag is so beautiful.

I wanted to use colors that fit with my Christmas decorations and that is lime, black, brown and a little gold and silver. For this tag I wanted to use some new products, such as Rock Candy Glitter Dry. I absolutely love this glitter.

I have made 3 colors Dry Glitter. I can never have enough black, and for Christmas I also need some lime green.
The reindeer is stamped with black ink and then coated with some Glossy Accents and then coated with black Dry Glitter. The same way I did the holly, but then with green Dry Glitter and green ink.

The background is made with the wrinkle free distress technique. Then I put a thick layer of Rock Candy Crackle Paint on top. After it was dry I inked up the edges with walnut stain.

Light in Darkness

Hi everyone,

The days are getting shorter and nights are getting longer. A good reason to bring some light in the darkness, and that is precisely what the challenge of Frilly and Funkie is about this fortnight. And I'm entering this tag also into the Compendium of Curiosties challenge where the challenge is to use the Distress Ink Palette We have only a few techniques to go before we reach the end of the second book.

First I've colored in the stamp with Distress Reinkers. This stamp is one of my favorites, you can almost always use this stamp for every occasion.

Then I made the background with various colors of Distress Ink, and I've done with that with a sponge, so that I could go around the colored parts with precision. It's a bit lighter around the stamp, but I find that very pretty. As if it's glowing a bit.

Winter home

Hi everyone,

The winter is coming fast and so is Christmas! It's already December, and I just can't believe that Christmas is only a few weeks away. This week's challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show is House Rules. At this time of year, I can only think of Christmas and so I made in my artjournal a snowy landscape with a sweet little house that represents my cozy home with christmas.

First I've covered the pages with the super beautiful new Tissue Wrap. I liked it already a lot just the way it was, that I found it very difficult to whitewash it with some watered gesso. Of course I did it anyway, because otherwise it wouldn't become Christmassy. To create some texture I've used some modeling paste and stencil Dyan Reavely and made some snowflakes. This was the first time I've worked with modeling paste. Really cool stuff, very easy to work with, much easier than I thought!

The little hose is made from old scraps that I've had saved. At the bottom of the pages I put some lave, which represents a little coat of snow.

To join in all you need to do is make a project that fits this weeks challenge and you can be the winner of the $50 gift voucher that our amazing sponsor Simon Says Stamp offers.
