12 tags of 2013 - January

Hi everyone,

First I like to thank everyone who send me birthday wishes! I had a wonderful birthday, I've really been spoiled rotten :)
It's been a really busy time for me, but next week things will go back to normal. That's one of the reasons I'm this late with the January tag of 12 tags of 2013. I really like this tag a lot. And I decided to use as much of it as I could. I'm very glad that I've done that with the colors, I neve use those Distress colors, which really is a shame, because they go really beautiful together!

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Happy Girl

Hi everyone,

I wanna begin this post to thank Terry for being on this amazing DT and for all that she did as this is her last challenge with us. She is so talented and that didn't go unnoticed, because she joined two other DT's! Terry, I wanna wish you the best of luck. I will keep in touch my friend!

Yippy, it's my birthday today and I'm in the mood for a little party! That's great, because Simon Says Stamp and Show has another amazing challenge for us and it's one where we can go crazy with lace and doilies! Something I need to do more often! I have enough doily stamps and lots of lace to do so! I did manage to not go overboard with this one. Well I think I didn't....

Celebrating my birthday always makes me happy, even though it means that I've become another year older. Think it's particularly nice to see my friends all together. And happy is the just word for this tag. The quote from Audrey Hepburn is so true!

For the background I used bright happy colors, such as Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves Distress ink. On the edges I stamped the half Maya Road Doily stamps. I think the mini gears also look like doilies, don't you agree?

Finally I used my Vintage Lace die, that I bought more than a month ago and hadn't used yet. Shame on me! Whahaha!

To join in all you need to do is make a project that fits this weeks challenge and you can be the winner of the $50 gift voucher that our amazing sponsor Simon Says Stamp offers. This prize will go to a random entry. So go over to the Stamp and Show Challenge blog, let the DT members inspire you and join in the fun!

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Following my muse

Hi everyone,

Today I joining in the fun with Frilly and Funkie where the challenge is to follow your muse. At the moment I'm really crazy about the color Peacock Feathers, my muse screams that to use that color everytime at the moment. I need to do other color combo's as well...

My father's birthday is this Friday and made this card for him. I hope he likes it. He always says what he honestly thinks about it and that is not always what I like to hear... He thinks the process of making it is amazing, but it's not always his taste. I'm very curious what he thinks of this card... Fingers crossed! LOL

For the background I used my favorite Tim technique of the moment. I don't know what it's officialy called. It's the one with the regular Distress Stains in combination with a metallic Distress Stain. Here's a video of that technique with more inspiration for the use of the metallic stains!

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Embrace the old

Hi everyone,

It is the first Monday of 2013 and Simon Says Stamp and Show has a new challenge for us! This time the theme is "embrace the old". You can spin it the way you like, whether you use an old technique, use an old stamp, make something look old or maybe you think of something completely different, it is all possible.

When I think of "embrace the old" I immediately think of timeworn techniques. Because I am crazy about making things look old. If it's bydistressing, grunging it up or time worn techniques, I just love it. I'm always looking for ways to make things look old.

For this week, I've altered an empty cigar box that I got from Lein. For some reason I'm always a bit hesitant to alter things, but when I'm in my groove (lol) then I really enjoy it very much. First I covered the box with pieces of cardstock and adhered some embellishments. Painted it all black and then I did the Andy Skinner's Drybrush technique to make it look really old. This is really my favorites timeworn technique!

Tim's birthday card

Hi everyone,

First, I want to wish you all a happy new year. That 2013 may be the best year ever! In every way, work, private atmosphere and of course in the creative way!

In a few days time it's the King of Grunge, aka Tim Holtz, birthday and Linda from Studio L3 deticated the last Compendium of Curiosities Challenge to it. We were could chose to use one or more techniques out of the first or second book. I chose Tissue Wrap Collage technique from the second book. This can be found on page 38.

It was a real hassle to mail it, because the mailboxes were temporarily closed because of all the fireworks since last Saterday and they should be open today. But unfortunately that was not the case. Then I went to the post office, which was closely related to inventory.... Fortunately I overheard at the supermarket that another post office a little further away was open! Yes! Mission accomplished!

Anyway, again go back to the card. I made a cheerful happy card, and not steampunky as last year. Today I had finally bought the birdcage die, and it was perfect for my card. On the cage I used the Dry Brush technique by Andy Skinner. I really love this technique.

The inside of the card I did the technique that Tim has shown in the December tag of the 12 2012 tags.

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Celebration with a cup of tea

Hi everyone,

The moment is there, the last day of 2012 has arrived. What a great year it has been! When I look back on this year, so much has happened in the creative sense, but also in working and privacy atmosphere . I'm very pleased with how the year has gone by. It's now time for 2013. And to end this year and to start a brand new one, Simon Says Stamp and Show has a fun challenge for us, a Mad Tea Party! There are no rules for this challenge, it's an anything goes one! But if you're inspired to make it a tea party like us, please do so!

I always like to interpret the challenges literally, so when I think of a tea party, I think of a teapot with cups. For this challenge I wanted to use products and tools which I discovered/bought in 2012. Like my Silhouette Cameo. It's been a while since I've used it and this 3D project was perfect to put it to work. Other things I bought in 2012 is my favorite ink, Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. I absolutely love that color! The Distress Dry Glitter Rock Candy is such beautiful stuff, really amazing that you can give it any color with alcohol inks. My favorite adhesive for metal, fabric, buttons and foam board is Tacky Glue! It's really awesome and a really good alternative for the glue gun, which I always fight with. And not to forget the Idea-ology Mini Gears, I find them so cute and I can really use it on anything.

Yes my Silhouette Cameo has worked its little bottom of and my Glossy Accents is half empty after making this project. I always find it so much fun to pick out the design paper for this kind of projects and with the Little Black Dress collection, I had plenty of choice. I'm very happy with the result and it looks perfect on the table in my living room!

Have a Happy New Year!!! Love to see you next year!

A joyful Christmas!

Hi everyone,

It's almost time, tonight it's Christmas Eve and tomorrow it's really Christmas! It all went so very quickly! This week we have no challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show, but we wish you all a merry Christmas and all the design team members have something they want to share with you for this festive week. Please check it out!
Last year was the first year that I've made Christmas cards, and I had so much fun that I wanted to do that again this year. And for my Christmas card I used my alternative Christmas colors yet again.

Below a short impression how I've made them. Unfortunately, not all steps are captured, because I was so busy that I just didn't think about taking pictures...

The background is made with the Tim Holtz Distress Wrinkle Free technique. To let the 25 stand out I used Glossy Accents to glue down the black colored Dry Glitter. That stuff is totally awesome!

Finally, the Holiday Lamp Post got some serious use!

With the drybrush technique I have the lamp post with a golden glow. And every lamppost got some vellum windows.

The tinsel is light colored with 3 colors of alcohol ink.

Before you go, I wanted to let you know that Simon Says Stamp has a really amazing clearance going on! 40% OFF EVERYTHING IN OUR end of year sale category coupon code CLEAR40 now through December 31.

Thank you for stopping by! Wishing you a wonderful Christmas!

Hugs,
Sandra
