12 tags of 2015 - February

Hi everyone,

It's Tim Time: February 2015 Tag! And not as close to the deadline! My planning is going in the right direction. He has made another gorgeous tag! Very beautiful collaging!

I had lots of the products that Tim used for this tag. I hadn't noticed what Tim had used for his collage. I thought that it was from a paper pack, and when I opened up the Thrift Shop Ephemera pack I was surprised that it was exactly what Tim had used. I hadn't used it yet, so I'm pleased that Tim inspired me to use them.

It's weird I know, but I always have trouble with making collages. Dividing the areas is very hard for me. I think to much about it and can't make decisions. It's taking me forever to commit. Need to get better at that.

The technique to apply shadow on a sealed background with a brush is something I've done before and I love it. Mostly I use that technique with Big Brush pens from Faber Castell, because it's Indian Ink and therefor permanently. Such a cool technique to create shadow and depth.

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Botanical Paradise

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is here. Despite the cold weather we dream about a "piece of paradise". We do you dream of when you think of paradise? We sure want to know and see your creations!

When I think of paradise, I think of beautiful palms, exotic plants and beautiful nature. I was inspired by the botanical part of paradise. I started with the Mini Leaves stencil with various colors green Distress Ink.

The Palm Fronts stencil fits perfectly with this challenge. To give it a more organic look, I used it with green colored Crackle Texture Paste. To bring more dimension to the tag I used the Clustered Leaves die from Simon Says Stamp. On top of the sentiment I applied some glitter with the Wink of Stella Glitter Clear Brush pen.

Red and Pink tag

Hi everyone,

Can you already feel the love in the air? Within a few days it's Valentine's Day and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge has come up with a perfect challenge. One that also fits the non-Valentine crafters: "Red + Pink". As long as there is pink and red in your project!
I hadn't planned in advance what kind of project it would be, only that I wanted to use red and pink. I started with applying a thin layer of Gesso with a Palette Knife. The next step was applying Ruby and Neon Pink paint with the Swirl and Dots Stencil from Simon Says Stamp with a baby wipe. From there I used Picked Raspberry and filled in the background. Around the edges, I applied some pink tones Gelatos for more depth.

With the Latticework stencil with Walnut Stain and with Schoolhouse and Black Soot I added more layers. Then it was time for some washi tape, but not before I cut out the Pointed Feathers from Simon Says Stamp and stuck them under the washi!

Happy Hugs art journal page

Hi everyone,

Can't believe it's February already! Monday equals a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's "H is for...". What does the letter H brings to mind? With Valentine's Day around the corner you might think of hearts or maybe Heidi Swapp, Hero Arts or Tim Holtz. We are very curious about what you're gonna create for this letter challenge! Please join in and share them with us!

For this challenge, I was inspired by the Big Hugs die from Simon Says Stamp. I think it's such an amzing die and I use it not nearly enough. I was in the mood for a grungy distressed-looking art journal page. Lately, I am very much into the mint green/teal color. Perhaps because that are new colors of my interior, but I also find them stunning colors for projects.

I started with a piece of Neenah cardstock and have it cut to size for my art journal. I gave it a thin layer of Gesso with a Palette Knife. I hadn't played with my Gelatos for a while, so time to get them out. I like the drip technique, I think that is the coolest gelato technique. It's so easy and gives you a different result each time. With a Stencil and a baby wipe I added some dimension. Because there wasn't Gesso everywhere, it created a very special effect.

The Hugs is cut out of cork, but it had too much contrast with the background, so I applied some Brushed Pewter over it. I don't know if this paint is supposed to be this fluid, it's way more fluid than the other Distress Paints, it has the consistency of stains. I forget that everytime and it's a mess because of that. Because it's so fluid it doesn't cover surfaces as good as I would like, but in this case it was perfect, because it toned down the cork.

12 tags of 2015 - January

Hi everyone,

It is TTT (Tim Tag Time) again! I had such good resolutions for this year for my participation with the 12 tags to not wait until the last minute. This is not a good start! But there is lots of room for improvement!
Anyway, back to business! I'm so glad that Tim continues with the 12 tags in 2015! It's always a great learning moment! He always has new techniques to teach, and he makes the most amazing tags! Like this month! I love the grungy mixed media feel!

It's always an extra challenge to give it your own twist, but it's a lot easier if you don't have all the supplies, because you have to come up with alternatives :). That makes it even more fun. The base material such as Tissue Wrap and Glue N Seal, are supplies I have in my stash. I made my own Distress Stain by filling up an Stampendous bottle so I can use it as a spray.

Tim used random power words on his tag with ChitChat, and I wanted to make a sentiment. "The best is still to come", which I think is a nice prospect and I like to believe in.

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

A cloud of a baby

Hi everyone,

It's Monday again and we have a brand new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge for you. This week's theme is: "from up in the clouds...". Let the dreary weather inspire you to make something pretty and join in.

I was inspired by a Dutch saying: "een wolk van een baby" literally translated: a cloud of a baby. Which means a beautiful and healthy baby. A colleague of mine just became a father to his first daughter and to celebrate this joyous occasion, I made a card where all my colleagues and I can write something on.

As the base of the card I cut a piece of Manila cardstock to card size and I the first thing I did was play with Neon Pink, it can't be bright enough! I really love that color, and pink is the most girly color. In these dark winter days I wanted to give this card a lot of color. With Peacock Feathers I added some more.

Around the edges of the card I stamped with a Zip-A-Dee-Doodle stamp in Simon Says Stamp White Ink. The ink mixes with the color that's under it, which gives a cool effect. With the Dot Fade stencil and Perfect Pearl Mist I gave it a bit of shimmer.  I coloured the edges of the Talk Bubble cloud with Neon Pink ink.

Winter snowman stamping

Hi everyone,

The first month of 2015 is already halfway gone. Time goes by very fast! Fortunately the hectic times are over now, well at least I hope so, and I have more time for fun things like crafting! Now it's time for a new Simon Says Monday Challenge. We're in the middle of winter and want to see something inspired by this cold season.

I was inspired by the December 2014 Tim tag. This background technique is so cool and also lots of fun to do. I don't have the new Stain Sprays yet, so I used the regular Stains and put some of it into a spray bottle so that I could do the technique. These were still on my desk and I couldn't resist to give it another go. This time I also used Glimmermist for more sparkle and depth in color.

The color palette is very wintery, but the working title of this challenge is 'Winter Stamping' and I have enough winter stamps to fit that criteria. I love those beautiful stamps from Teresa Collins: Tinsel Company. With the snowflakes I stamped in Watering Can Archival Ink.

What's more winter like than snow? I therefore added with Embossing Paste and Snow Dylusions stencil some snowflakes. I also painted the edges and the metal foil covered letters with white paint. All those cool colors needed some warmth. So I stamped the Snowman on a piece of Kraft cardstock and colored him in with serveral Distress Markers. To give him the glittery snow effect I applied a layer with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.
