Secret box - Grungy Monday 30

Hi everyone,

A while ago I got from the super kind Heather, her spare scorpal, because I had none. Thanks again so much, Heather! I'm so happy with it! Still can believe you just send it to me :)! hihi.

And now I finally have time to play with. I knew immediately what my first project would be! The secret box of Heather! It was quite a challenge for a first project, but with the clear instructions and the videos I was able to make one in my first try! I'm also joinging in with Grungy Monday #30. It's been a while since I've played along. It's not quite Tim Holtz grungy, but I find it grungy enough to join in :).
I've used tissue tape on the sides of the drawers. I filled the drawers with all kinds of grungy metal embellishments. The bottom tray is not very easy to access, so I put the larger embellishments in there, because they are easier to grab:). I'm so happy with my secret box!

Invitation to my birthday party!

Hi everyone,

Hope you all had a wonderful time with the festivities, the last few days! I sure did! Lots of food and family! Love this time of year. And the festivities just keep coming because my birthday is just around the corner.
For my birthday I'm gonna invite some of my friends to my birthday party. As always I sent an invitation out to them. The day before yesterday, I made the first invitation and did lots of prep, so yesterday at Lein's house I did the mass production. I rarely do mass production, so I was really surprised that it took me forever to finish them. I had prepared a lot, and I thought I would get it done within 2 hours. We had a tight schedule as we wanted to go to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie. But we succeeded!

Merry Christmas - Another Tim tag

Hi everyone,

Jeez, the time went by fast. Tomorrow is already Christmas. And therefor I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry christmas!! Hope you enjoy yourselves during this gerat holiday! And I also wanted to share one more christmas themed project.

I'm entering this tag for Simon Says Stamp and Show and Our Creative Corner challenge. For OCC, my inspiration is a bow, I have bows everywhere.
During the first 10 tags of 12 tags of Christmas from Tim, I didn't have alcohol inks. And this seemed like a good time to practice the techniques that Tim used for tag 5 and 7. I don't have many different colors, so I had to work with all the colors I had. Green-ish, blue-ish and silver. I kept the tag very simple, mainly because I want to show the techniques it did. I didn't get the right result for the technique of tag 5, but I actually like the outcome also.

Mission Impossible birthday card

Hi everyone,

Another color challenge christmas card

Hi everyone,

OCCC also has a color challenge, and I had to make another christmas card. Perfect! This time I didn't use such bright colors. I didn't want to hurt your eyes again:). I have used perfect pearls as a little sparkle on the button, but it doesn't show well on the picture. I used the owl stamp again. It's such a cute stamp, don't you think?  I have to practice my coloring skills more. Maybe take a class. Yes, I think I'll make it a goal for 2012!

Sherlock Holmes birthday card

I had actually planned a little break for myself, after the 12 tags of christmas. But I still had a to make a birthday card for a friend of mine. And I also wanted to join in again with Simon Says Stamp and Show. This time the theme is depth.

My friend wanted to see the new movie of Sherlock Holmes. So we (Lein and I) give her cinema vouchers as her gift. Yesterday, I visited Ira's blog ​​and she had a super fun idea for a Christmas card with a plain ticket. That was such a great idea for the birthday card. 12 tags of christmas album - guest designer for Use it tuesday!

Hi everyone,

I'm sad but at the same time also excited! I've been very busy with the 12 tags of Christmas of Tim Holtz. And can't believe that it's over! That's why I'm sad. But I'm excited because I'm guest designer for Use it Tuesday! I'm so honored to be a part of this incredible design team for this week.
The theme is Holiday.  So I wanted to make something to show off my 12 tags of christmas. And I came up with sort of a display/album. This way it's part of my Christmas decorations!

I used eyelets for clothing from my stash. Since I started with paper crafting I forgotten all about them. I've used them for the covers. The advantage of the garment eyelets is that it also has a nice back side! You're very limited with setting the eyelets in paper. So I want a Big Bite! haha. I know what I'm asking for Christmas!

12 tags of christmas - day 12

Hi everyone,

It's time for the final tag, number 12. What did I have a fun experience with these tags, and learned so much! I have said it several times, but I mean it! It was a great experience and hopefully the adventure continues next year. On one hand I'm kind of glad it's done, because it also brought a bit of stress with it. But that does not outweigh the experience:).So on the other hand I'm sad that it's over, because of the energy and all the contacts, and learning new techniques.

But Tim goes out with a bang! Because Tim definitely saved the best for last. And of course I don't have all the supplies, such as tissue paper and the doll. And still I made this tag without any doubt, I just went with it! I'm very happy with my tag, I think it's the most beautiful of the 12!

12 tags of christmas - day 11

Hi everyone,

Just one more to go... :(. Today's tag is very pretty. And besides the melting, it seemed like a simple tag... Yeah  right, everything went wrong! The ink was not dry, so I smeared it al over the place, and I was working with alcohol inks and it dripped on my tag.I did my print-and-cut method, and that went wrong also. I've ruined a lot of glossy cardstock. So I cut them out by hand... Sigh!

I don't have a melting pot, shrink film or UTEE. So I used a clear sheet and and run it true my vagabond with a decorative strip (festive greenery, what else?!) ... But that does not work. Even if you go back and forth. I had to think of something else. I took another piece of the clear sheet and went to work with alcohol inks. Found it rather difficult, this is my first time with alcohol ink (yes I bought them!). Then I stuck some white cardstock behind it and cut it out some holly leaves with my eCraft! For creating some thicknes I used glossy accents.

12 tags of christmas - day 10

Hi everyone!

It's time for tag 10 and this tag is really amazing. How Tim thinks of adhere tape to paper and then put it into warm water and rubbing the paper off, so the top layer remains on the tape?! I'm totally impressed with all the new techniques I learn every day.

Today I didn't have some of the supplies, like the facets, so I set my brain to work, to think what I could do as an alternative. And first I started with a test run to see if the technique with adhesive tape and hot water really is as easy as Tim does make it appear. But it's really easy! What a fun way to make an embellishment! Unfortunately I did not have the facets and still no metal foil, so I had to get the tin foil again and instead of using a facet I used glossy accents. Because of the tape I couldn't use embossing powder. That would make it much faster than the dry time of glossy accents.

I'm so happy with the festive greenery decorative strip! I use it everytime now:).

Hi everyone!

Today it's time for tag 9! Only 3 more to go after this one. I also love tag 9. And how wonderful that mr & mrs. stampers anonymous were visiting Tim in his studio. Personally I found the tag of Ted the most beautiful. And I decided to combine the two in my tag.
On my way home I found myself in the local craft store... I couldn't help myself, and I bought the holiday lamppost and festive greenery. I told myself that I could use the Lamppost for non Christmas project also and the festive greenery is just so versatile. And I think that is true. Still need a little practice with the making the greenery pretty.

When I saw today's tag, I was completely over the moon with joy. The theme is steampunk christmas! And I have almost every supply for making this tag! This tag is absolutely my favorite of the 12 tags!
I'm a real doubter, I over think everything, which is not good for your creativity. But with this tag I knew what I wanted to make from the get go! Did have some doubts here and there, but that's who I am ;), and who doesn't? The tag I made is my all time favorite! I had so much fun dressing those men up!

12 tags of christmas - day 7

Hi everyone!

It's stormy outside, and today is my day off, so this afternoon I sat down for day 7 of the 12 tags of Christmas. The techniques featured today are kraft glassine with alcohol inks. I must confess that I've ordered alcohol inks the other day, but unfortunately I didn't receive them yet. So I've been experimenting with a little piece of glassine and distress ink, but I didn't like the green. Eventually I used paint dabbers and made different shades of green. Then I wrinkled it up and sanded it and inked the veins with distress. I did the background again with distress ink instead of stains. Then I did go over it a bit more  with a blending tool with the same colors for a bit more effect and also so I could make drops with water. Half way through, I almost wanted to start over, but I'm glad I didn't! It turned out great!
Unfortunately you can't see the glassine through the paint but I'm just glad I finally used it! haha. I also, as Tim said, bought it because I was curious about it, and didn't know what to do with it! LOL. Another first, I used archival ink for embossing. And it works perfectly! Don't have black embossing powder, so that's why I used archival ink and clear embossing powder). The holly is cut with my eCraft machine.

12 tags of christmas - day 6

Hi everyone!

We already are half way through the 12 tags of Christmas! I can't believe how much I've learned already. Although it takes all of my free time, I'm so happy I'm joining in! And today I've got a nice blinkie button tp put on my blog from the 12 tags! How cool is that! Tim has it on his blog! So if you want to get it also, that's were you can grab it.

Today's techniques are about using metal foil and paint dabbers. Pfeww, at least I have one of those two, the paint dabbers to be precise. But not Christmas like colors. I used tin foil instead of the metal foil. I also didn't have any Christmas-related embossing folders (only the snowflake one), so I decided to just go for the technique. But when it was finished, I also wanted to make a Chrismas / winter tag. Then I found some silver packaging which I could use instead of metal or tin foil! The packaging wasn't big enough for a #8 tag, but still big enough to make a tag out of it. Because the silver packaging was made out of paper with a silve coating, the paint wasn't easy to brush off. I spend an hour or so on it! But I'm pleased with the result, too bad that I can't make a great picture of it. The background is done with snow cap with a little tumbled glass over it for the clear embossing powder and also for the effect. But never the less, I like the last tag the most. Which one do you like the best? Please let me know!

12 tags of christmas - day 5 with SSS&S

Hi everyone!

Today I wanted to combine the 12 tags of Christmas with the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge, because the 12 tags are taking up all my time :). This week's challenge is show some elements of time.

I was a bit scared for this days tag, because I don't have any of the supplies that Tim used! I have no alcohol inks, no reflections stamps and not the die he used. I wanted to run to the store and  get me some reflections stamps and alcohol ink. Just in time I realized that the stores are closed on Monday. That made me freak out  more. Fortunately, once I calmed down, I had an idea and I thought of alternatives I could use for this tag. And I'm very pleased with today's result!

When I buy alcohol inks and reflection stamps, I'm gonna give these techniques a try! They're amazing!

12 tags of christmas - day 4

Hi everyone,

Wow, what great tags this year, don't you think? I'm blown away by them! This is my first year, but  I looked at the previous years of course. And this year is definitely the best! I'm learning so much and I'm having so much fun! The tag of day 4 is also totally awesome!
I have a few colors of distress stains (but I do have picket fence of course), so I mainly worked with ink and water, unfortunately then the ink already reacted with the water, so I couldn't make the drops.

Then the crackle paint. I don't know what I'm doing wrong (maybe it's the paper...), but I can not get an  thick even layer on it. And if I put more on it, it just goes to the middle ... When it began to crackle I used my heat gun to speed up to process, and suddenly a big bubble came out of it! Huh? Then I had trouble with the stains and the coloring ... Ultimately, it ended up in the trash. Time for a new plan. This time I used a clear sheet and made ​​it white with a paint dabber. And on top, I put glossy accents. No crackle effect, but a nice shiny effect:). It took forever for it to dry!!

It´s so clever. It´s limitless! I didn't have the embossing folder, so I used the VersaMarker to trace some of the words and used clear embossing powder to emboss it. I like how it turned out, hope you do too:).
