Corrugated Curiosity

Hi everyone,

Monday equals a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week we ask you to not use regular paper, but special paper such as glitter paper, corrugated cardboard, tissue paper, vellum etc. Let the challenge begin!


I like corrugated cardboard and hadn't used it for a while. I usually use it with neutral and darker colors, it seemed like a fun idea to bring in some bright colors this time. For the background I chose Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon and Fossilized Amber.



To bring together the two corrugated board pieces in the two corners and also the sentiment, I stamped it on a piece of vellum. With the Barn Door Distress Marker I colored in the word "Curiosity", and I gave it a bit of sparkle with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.



For contrast, I played with the Botanical Remnant Rubs, only the cardstock I used is somewhat porous and is not really suitable for rub-ons. The top layer of the cardstock came off in some places... After a bit of fidgeting I managed to get them on. It needed more dimension, so I have doodled a little with a White Sharpie Pen.

12 tags of 2015 - July

Hi everyone,

It's 12 tags of 2015 time again for the month of July, and I didn't wait until the end of the month. Oh yeah! Maybe this will stick... Tim has made another super stunning tag.

I actually had none of the basic elements, like the stamps, and the paper that he used for the background. I've therefore chosen  Tissue Wrap and a few of the Paris to London stamps. Despite that they are minis, they're still too big for the #8 tag and used a # 10 tag instead. I've always used the #8 tags, and I almost forgot I had larger ones.



A blessing in disguise when I the English flag stamp didn't complete take on the Distress cardstock, now I could color it :).



Luckily I did have the MicroGlaze, that stuff is amazing. I also use it on envelopes when I have something that isn't waterproof. Must apply a very thin layer and remove the excess so that it no longer sticks. Otherwise it becomes a mess at the post office :).

Inky fun

Hi everyone,

A new Monday brings a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge with it! It's a letter challenge called "I scream for ...". Are the creative juices started flowing? We're very curious about your creations!


I chose I for Inks. Ink is one of my most favorite mediums. You have it in many different types, spray ink, stamp ink, acrylic ink, marker ink. Mostly the spray inks were the inspiration for this art journal spread.



The first layer that I applied was with Gesso, so I can play a little more with the ink spray. I then applied the Honeycomb stencil with some white Crackle Texture Paste. I love the crackle effect! Especially if you go over it with ink, whether it's ink stamp, spray or ink stains, doesn't matter. It gives the crackle a more intense effect. Love it!



Most ink sprays that I've used for this spread, I made myself with mica powder from Primary Elements and water, but also with Perfect Pearls and Distress Reinkers. I've also used the regular spray ink like Distress Spray Stain and Glimmer mist. I do like a spray with a bit of glimmer in it. That gives it more depth.

Dark Gelli Plate card

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and this week there are no rules at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! All the more reason to join in!


It was a while since I've used my Gelli Plate. I dusted it off ready to experiment. So far I only have printed on white paper, and I wanted to try something else. I really like the bright greens and blues and I think they very well with a black background. Reason enough to experiment.



The Gelli Plate always gives a different result. I actually had applied too much paint, but therefor I got this beautiful print. It's a second ghost image, which I pulled of the Gelli Plate with a layer of black paint. It's an easy way to clean the Gelli Plate (okay, to get it cleaner ...), and often it gives my a beautiful and interesting print.



The result is great, but how am I going to use this dark background? I wanted to make some more layers, and since it is a dark background, Simon Says Stamp White ink is the perfect idea.



As a focal point I had to use the man of the Purveyor stamp set. I stamped him on Kraft Cardstock and applied a thin layer of Multi Medium Matte. This way it's easier to give him some color. The colors stay more true.

Coffee and tea stains tag

Hi everyone,

A new Monday means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. It's "Coffee or tea?" this week. Coffee and tea are very popular in crafting right now. How do you get inspired by this theme? Share it with us!



My inspiration were the names of the supplies I used. I chose to work with Walnut Stain, Coffee and Tea Dye. All brown shades that work well together. First I splashed the tag with Liquid Frisket and a brush. This stuff smells so bad, but fortunately that smell dissipates quickly.



After it was dry, I've stamped with the Chase Rainbows stamp to create some stains. To create even more stains I've sprayed with Distress Walnut Stain Spray. With Tea Dye I gave the tag given a more slightly brownish hue.
