Alcohol Party card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Alcohol" Inks  or Drinks...

I rarely use Alcohol Inks for my projects, but I have quite a few. So this Alcohol challenge is perfect to break them out again. I notice that I often grab the same colors and this time is no different. I started with a sheet of Yupo and different colors Alcohol Inks. I applied them with a blending tool with Felt, but I find the hard lines with the small ones really cool, so I used a heat tool to stop the process of the Alcohol Inks wicking.

Next I took stamps from the Dapper set together with Alcohol Lift Ink. I don't think I'm doing it  exactly right, because I don't  always get a nice result. I need to experiment with it a bit more. To get some texture, I've mixed Texture Paste black with Distress Paint Black Soot and used the Mini Schoolhouse stencil. To give it a bit of shimmer I used Mystic Turquoise Brilliance Wax on top of it.

I was inspired by the new stamp set by Tim Holtz, the one with the hats, that I cut off the hat of one Paperdoll (which is too big to use in my projects) and glued it onto another. I colored it with different colors of Distress Markers. For the sentiment I used White Embossing Powder, and I found out that heat embossing on Yupo is not a good idea. Since it is a synthetic paper, and kind of plastic, it starts to warp when it gets too hot ... Wise lesson learned :).

This is so pretty and masculine at the same time! You really do have a gift for creating so many deep rich tones of color and I love being able to see the steps in your creative processes.

Love the rich colors and the awesome way to color the image just to give a hint of color. Always love seeing your beautiful creations.

Great texture and design! Enjoyed watching your video. The expressions on the man & dog make me smile. They seem to be patiently waiting for someone to finish their sentence and deciding if they need to do anything.

Oh my! This background is just AMAZING. That was so cool to see how the magic happened with the blending of inks and then with the lift ink. What a fabulous effect! I should really think over the alcohol inks order. I really love how it turned out! It's magic...

oh WOW! that background is gorgeous, Sandra! I feel like it is flowing, and the colors are so rich, plus, I love the images you worked into it. I can just see the gentleman and his dog out walking in the forest or moors. Love this card!! hugs, Maura

The "lifted" gears look pretty amazing to me - and those deep dark mysterious depths of colour are fabulous.
