Simon Says Stamp Birthday card with video tutorial
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Happy Birthday". It's our 9th anniversary of the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, and we're showcasing Simon Says Stamp exclusive products! So if you have any, please use them in your projects.

It has been 9 years since this challenge was founded! And that is reason for a birthday party! I made a grungy birthday card to celebrate. I started with Distress Oxide Spray and Distress Spray Stain. A quick way to create a background with lots of color. A bit of a messy way, but that's okay. After everything was dry I applied some shimmer with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls Spray and the Simon Says Stamp Diamon Circles stencil.

Then I added some interest with stamps. I used the Dapper, Mixed Media Strips and the Read to Me stamp sets. I wanted to highlight the sentiment of the Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes and I used the Stitched Oval for that. These dies are not so much stacked, so I used the die itself as a mold and cut along the inside egde with a hobby knife. I colored the back part with the Lucky Emerald and Mystic Turquoise Antique wax and the frame with Bronze Age Metallique wax. I also colored the Garden Greens and Scrolls (thanks Marzena!) with Distress Oxide Spray and Distress Spray Stain. And made the edges a bit grungy with Distress Ink Ground Espresso.

To join in all you need to do is make a project that fits this weeks challenge and you can be the winner of the $50 gift voucher that our amazing sponsor Simon Says Stamp offers. Fabulous grungy greens - love how it looks as though the sunlight is just catching those yellow leaves making them glow. Happy birthday!

Very cool grungy card! I really enjoyed watching your video and seeing how this came together. I'm mystified that the embossing powder didn't stick to the wax. but the effect of the waxes is fabulous! I'm inspired to get mine out, now! Happy Birthday!
