Dog's Life card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Dog's Life".

For this week I was inspired by this cute pug stamp from Oddball and from the Facebook Lives of Tim Holtz. I finally took the plunge and bought all but one of the Distress Embossing Glazes, I actually wanted to get them all, but I wasn't paying attention when ordering... And I did a technique with them that I saw in the Tim Holtz Demos. I also experimented a bit with my "own" technique with Distress Oxides.

First, I used Distress Oxides Peacock Feathers, Peeled Paint, Dusty Concord and Vintage Photo. I used this with the Wrinkle Free Distress technique, and then added extra color in places that needed more color with a blending tool. After that some last splatters from the Wrinkle Free Distress technique I made the edger darker with Distress Ink Ground Espresso. The background was really pretty, but not quite what I wanted in terms of color. So here comes "my own" technique. With Distress Oxide Broken China and Mowed Lawn I muted the different colors by muting them to greens and blues. I'm not claiming this technique ;), I put it between quotes, because almost every technique has been done by someone else before, it was my experiment. Maybe that's a better decription ;).

With the Tiles stencil and the Emboss It Dabber, I've applied Distress Embossing Glaze Peeled Paint, Cracked Pistachio, and Broken China, and it's a really pretty effect when it starts to melt. And also using the colors together gives an amazing effect. I colored the Oddball Pug with Distress Reinkers Tea Dye, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain. I did the eyes with Distress Reinkers Milled Lavender and Weathered Wood. Was new to me that with light purple and bluish gray you can get a better shadow effect for something that is white. I saw it in a drawing/coloring video on YouTube.
