It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Heat Embossing".
Did you also see Tim Holtz's live stream last Saturday? I was inspired by the new seasonal mica sprays to make my own sprays with the existing Distress Stain and Perfect Pearls. Knowing well that it is different from the new products, but it's still fun to experiment, and answer the what if question ;). I mixed Distress Spray Stain Rusty Hinge with Perfect Pearls Copper and Distress Spray Stain Salvaged Patina with Perfect Pearls Mint and added some heavier beads (I don't have those metal mixing balls) to mix the pearls. What a great combination that is, the pearls with the colors, but also Salvaged Patina with Rusty Hinge. I used them for my background along with Distress Oxide Spray Salvaged Patina and Walnut Stain. You really see the pearls when it's dry, and I think this version has a lot less intense shimmer than the new mica products. But I have to say that I also really like this subtle shimmer.
After I was done with the background I used Texture Paste with the Typo stencil and immediately sprinkled Distress Embossing Glaze Salvaged Patina and Rusty Hinge over it before it wasn't sticky anymore. I let it dry for a while, but the Texture Paste was not completely dry when I melted the Embossing Glaze with the Heat tool. But I just love the extra texture, so I don't mind. I also used Distress Embossing Glaze Salvaged Patina and Rusty Hinge on the Paper Doll to color up his hat and his tie.
