Remember: Embrace Imperfection

Hi everyone,

A new Monday has arrived and so has a new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. This week we want to see inky backgrounds. To what extent is entirely up to you! If you're not really an inky person, maybe you should take this opportunity to experiment.

I'm also experimenting in my art journal this week. I love ink sprays and why not make an ink spray background? Whether it has become a successful experiment... I don't know, but I found the process so much fun and have given it the title "embrace imperfection".

As the first step, I used the striped Teresa Collins Stencil and Vibrant Turquiose to make a start for the inky background. I've also used the stencil as a mask. So the stencil stayed in the same place and I started stamping for more interest.

Then I got the idea to move the stencil a bit so that the part that was masked off became visible. This time I used Bubblegum Pink and Crushed Grape. Wow, this was really bright and loud ... Just go with it and continue! To create more contrast I took the Jumbled Letters and applied it with black colored Embossing Paste. Such a cool effect, stencil over stencil.

The edges I painted black because the stencil was just too small for my art journal, but it also helps as contrast for the bright stripes, just as the washi tape. To create even more interest, I stamped "whole" stamps, like the Spool Labels and Document stamps.

Party time!

Hi everyone,

It's Monday again and we are back with a Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Things are back to normal! Hope you all had an amazing Christmas and a wonderful New Year, and hopefully you're are ready for some crafting! I sure do, it was very hectic here with the renovation, the move and holidays fesitivities. But like I already said, we're back and have a fun challenge for you: "Make new friends, but keep the old.". Great one to ring in the new year!

I'm moving on to the next event, my birthday! I'm combining it with the housewarming. So time to make some invitations. I want to keep my old friends, literally speaking..., and new friends are more then welcome off course. But for my birthday I'm focusing on the old, not literally off course, hahaha. I started with an old technique, the Paint Resist technique with Picket Fence Distress Paint and the Sunset Sunrise stencil. Then I cut out my new friend, the Ring Frame of Simon Says Stamp, with Kraft cardstock where I adhedered some Masking Tape on. I lifted the masking tape off and using the Ring Frame to mask off some circles.

Then I started working with Picked Raspberry to create a beautiful pink background. The more you go over the painted areas, the better the paint will resist. Do you want to see more of the actual paint color, you can use a damp cloth or a baby wipe and carefully going over it.

Thought it would be fun to make some contrast and create a kind of Chalkboard effect. I did this with my new Heidi Swapp stamps and also new Simon Says Stamp White Pigment Ink. First I painted the circles black and then stamped with white ink. So simple, so fun!

12 tags of 2014 - December

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post just before the end of the year. First of all I wanna wish you an amazing 2015! That it will be a really beautiful and creative year. I'm a few hours too late to participate with the December tag of 2014. That's okay. It's all been very hectic with the renovation and move. But it doesn't stop me to share the tag with you on New Year's Eve.

It's a variation of Tim's tag. I don't have any of the products he has used besides the manila tag and Picket Fence Distress Paint ... But that didn't stop me!

I'm going back my New Year's Eve party and wish you all the best for the new year!

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

I'm moving!

Hi everyone,

It's so hectic here at the moment, but it's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week is No Rules at all! Just play, play, play!

I've got moving stress, and I thought it would be a great idea to make a moving tag for family and friends to let them know when I'm moving. I used a kraft tag, because it reminds me of cardboard moving boxes. And to enhance that, I used the Distressed Textures stamps from Bo Bunny.

With Walnut Stain and the Latticework stencil I distressed the edges. On top of the washi tape I used the exclusive Arrows die of Simon Says Stamp! It is DIEcember after all!

The letters "Just Moved" are cut with the Alphanumeric die out of red cardstock and after I adhered them, I'm went over them  with the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Marker. I love that cool glittery effect!

Hot air transportation

Hi everyone,

Time really flies, where did it go?! Well, it's Monday again and it's time for a brand new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Transportation is the theme of this week. What is your favorite ride?

I would love to go on hot air balloon ride someday! Although I'm a little afraid of heights. But still, I think it's really cool to go to great heights with the wind in your hair and a stunning view. Who knows, maybe it will happen someday.

When I see this hot air balloon, I immediately think of steampunk. I can't help it.  I thought it would be a fun idea to give this card a little steampunk feel to it. But with some color in it. The background is made with Peacock Feathers and Seedless Preserves. Such cool rich deep colors! Since the theme of the card is steampunk, I stamped the edges with Cogs.

The hot air balloon is colored with Dylusions Vibrant Turquiose, Bubblegum Pink, Crushed Grape and Melted Chocolate. To give it some extra sparkle I applied some Heirloom Perfect Pearls Mist with a brush over it.

This sentiment is so cool and I wanted this to shine. So I stamped it with Versamark ink and applied  Heirloom Perfect Pearls powder with a brush. To secure the powder, I used hairspray. Works perfectly!

Christmas card

Hi everyone,

It's December already, can you believe it? Time flies like crazy! That means that the holiday season is just around the corner. This week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge it's all about Christmas cards! How far along are you with your Christmas cards? If you're not finished and you need some motivation, please join in! And for those who are done, you can also join in with fun Christmas decorations or other Christmas related projects!

This year I started a bit earlier with making my Christmas cards. It's a very big project to make lots of cards. I love making them, but I'm always very happy when they're done! Especially happy when they're done on time. I send the cards out always one month in advance when they have to go abroad, and fortunately I met that deadline!

The background is made with kraft wrapping paper from Ikea! I've cut it so that I could use it for my cards. My favorite Christmas background stamp was collecting dust (just kidding of course!), love how that stamp looks with Memento Fog on the kraft surface. Since we're talking about favorites, the 25 is my favorite Christmas die and that covered with Festive Berries Distress Glitter is so much fun.

The stitched edges I made with the Stitches stamp and I masked all corners to create a nice frame. The sentiment stamp is from Kaiser Craft. I was totally in love with that stamp when I saw it. I immediately how my Christmas card would look like.
