Hi everyone,
It is the first Monday of 2013 and Simon Says Stamp and Show has a new challenge for us! This time the theme is "embrace the old". You can spin it the way you like, whether you use an old technique, use an old stamp, make something look old or maybe you think of something completely different, it is all possible.
When I think of "embrace the old" I immediately think of timeworn techniques. Because I am crazy about making things look old. If it's bydistressing, grunging it up or time worn techniques, I just love it. I'm always looking for ways to make things look old.
For this week, I've altered an empty cigar box that I got from Lein. For some reason I'm always a bit hesitant to alter things, but when I'm in my groove (lol) then I really enjoy it very much. First I covered the box with pieces of cardstock and adhered some embellishments. Painted it all black and then I did the Andy Skinner's Drybrush technique to make it look really old. This is really my favorites timeworn technique!
To join in all you need to do is make a project that fits this weeks challenge and you can be the winner of the $50 gift voucher that our amazing sponsor Simon Says Stamp offers. This prize will go to a random entry. So go over to the Stamp and Show Challenge blog, let the DT members inspire you and join in the fun!
Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!
Hugs,
Sandra

Oh WOW!!! This is stunning Sandra! Love the whole timeworn look you've achieved and the mix of elements you've used to add interest to the box. What a huge slice of inspiration!
Thank you for your lovely comment about my card. Of course you would know about the location on the map for The Netherlands! Silly me to not remember that! My mind always seems to go a bit blank when I sit down to write a post - must be getting old:) Hope you have a great week. Hugs, Jenny x
Hi Sandra, I have to agree with you this is my favourite technique too and you have executed it beautifully. Love your aged embellishments too. One beautifully decorated box you should treasure. Enjoy your week flower. Tracy x x

Sandra...your box is fabulous! I can tell that this is your favorite technique. Your transformation of a plain wooden box into this "metallic" rusted masterpiece is beautifully done. Love all of the intricate details! <3 Candy

Incredible Sandra -- every time I think I might be ready to make a card you come along with something that challenges me and really excites me -- after all kid -- you were the first one to show me new things and then came Chris Dark. Oh how wonderful life is. I love your box!!
Sandy
Brilliant up-cycling of the old cigar box. The drybrush effect gives it a lovely patina and the gears are a lovely layer of texture.
Wow, what an amazing timeworn transformation - fabulous use of the techniques - it's stunning, Sandra!
