Jungle Fever card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Tiny Things".

For this challenge I had to think for a little while what I wanted to make, but then I saw the Entomology stamp set and I realized that a lot of these insects are very tiny. Perfect, just what I was looking for! First I used the Ornate Lace stencil with Texture Paste. After it was dry I applied a layer of Clear Gesso.

Then I needed some color. Lately I love that dark emerald green, so I used Distress Ink Lucky Clover first, and then Mowed Lawn and Pine Needles for the background. Next I wanted to add more depth, and I did that with Nuvo Shimmer Powders Green Parade and Atlantis Burst and Infusions Emerald Isle. To make it even darker, I chose for Nuvo Shimmer Powders Storm Cloud and Distress Paint Black Soot diluted with water.

I first stamped the beetles on watercolor paper and cut them out. I find it very difficult to properly position the dies and cut out these bugs and it's a shame if I have colored them nicely and I mess it up with cutting them out. That why I did it in this order. I placed the die cuts onto a Sticky Grid Sheet. Real handy. I've colored them with the same Distress Inks that I used for the background. Lucky Clover, Mowed Lawn and Pine Needles. And I made the legs and edges black with a black marker. To add some sparkle to those bugs, I used Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush.

OMG this is such a beauty! Your love for greens is absolutely justified. You use the green shades so well and I love the see them used by you. I don't have almost any green medias so I really adore the explosion of emerald on your project. Great job! Hugs, Macarena

This is such an amazing project! I am not a big fan of bugs in the real world, but you sure did make them beautiful here! I love how you added such sheen and pizazz. You always make really lovely things.
