Cityscape at Night Halloween card with video tutorial

http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/
Hi everyone,

It's Monday and that means a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This week it's all about "Cityscape".

This month is Halloween all the way for me. So I went for a cityscape Halloween style at night time. I started using a page from an old Dutch book and glued it with Collage Medium on a piece of Neenah cardstock. As a top layer I used Clear Gesso. This is really amazing stuff, it's almost impossible to notice that there is a layer  of Gesso on it. The effect on a layer of Clear Gesso with Distress Ink is almost the same as Distress Oxide, it gives it a chalky look. The only difference is that Oxide has Pigment and therefore has a covering property.

To create some interest in the background, I used the Shattered stencil with Distress Ink Black Soot. I used hair spray as a layer of varnish, but unfortunately it didn't work as well as I had hoped. It works perfectly with Perfect Pearls. But it gave me a nice splatter effect, so I'm happy, and it smells nice too LOL! Over it I used Nuvo Shimmer Powder Storm Cloud and Infusions Black Knight and In The Navy. I gave the Cityscape Metropolis set some color with Antique Brilliance Mystic Turquoise Wax and Distress Ink and Oxides. In order to recreate the effect of lights in the buildings, I used Gold Foil Cardstock (thanks, Frederique!).

Sandra, this is absolutely fabulous. This has the best spooky going on, and your glow windows in the buildings is genius. I am totally in love with the moon, but is it a stamp or just another media element? You rocked the challenge. PS.... I always love your choice of music in your videos.

Oh my, this is lovely. The dark cloudy sky is so creepy and the buildings a bit scary, too. A hair spray, really? You teach me something new and surprising every single Monday! Love this card! Hugs, Marzena
